Guidance Counselor (knows my whole family and works closely with me due to NHS)

I’d say you’re a qualified candidate. Beyond that it’s up to the adcom.

Just at a curiosity, since I do CT Mock Trial as well - do you guys compete at the Danbury courthouse? Also what’s up with the case being like 600 pages this year. It’s insane.

No, we compete in New Britain. And I know, right? They wasted so much space on the sheets so it came out to be 70 pages!

You have as good a chance as anyone. If I had to pick one or the other I’d say you’d be accepted. Work hard on your essays!

Add a leadership, position as President or Chairman and you have an excellent chance.

Agree that you need some leadership and/or student government positions, otherwise you look a little like a “joiner” who just packs on club memberships to fill out your resume.

The problem you have is with SAT’s. Your only hot score is in Writing, which GU doesn’t take into account. As to the other sections, the middle 50% from two years ago was:

CR 640-740
Math 650-750

Your scores are barely in the upper half, and I think the numbers have probably gone up since then. If you have a shot to try to bounce your scores a little, it would help a lot. My son (now a frosh there) took one final try and added 100 points to his scores to get above 1500, and I think that made the difference.
