Just be brutal, but don't laugh too hard

For Wharton, you really should have the IIC and one other subject. They would like a language, but if you're a native Spanish speaker, take that and a third (because an 800 on Spanish would be expected).

Oh I planned to do that actually, I'm gonna take Spanish and Chemistry, how hard is Math IIC?

curve is insane. Like 5 questions wrong, 800.

So it's hard?

Blah, as soon as I take my SAT I have like a month to prepare for it on June 2nd, my Pre-Cal teacher sucked this year, we had a good one but then she left so we got stuck with this remedial teacher =/

that's a good curve. Take it. You're a disadvantaged minority, not a rich Asian like me. You can get bellow an 800 and still be in the running.

it is actually easier to get 800 on math ii than i as the curves, as venkat mentioned are awesome

Guess I'm gonna have to nail the Math IIC stuff like, sunday after SAT Reasoning.

Chem I'm not too worried over, I took one practice test and got like a 740 easy, my chem teacher is just beastly =D

I cut myself daily because I got a 790 on the Chem SATII. It broke my perfect streak.

I will say that I didn't kill myself on the SAT IIs. I took the SAT IIs in june after the ap tests. after studying like crazy for the aps, i just took a break. :P

Well I'm -not- that bright as to get an 800 on like everything, I could get close but I'm infamous for me knucklehead mistakes.

However I think I may take the Spanish SAT II in the fall and take US Hist as one of my 3 in june, just cause I wanna take it, I've always done well in history =D

i think you have a pretty good shot at getting into wharton, especially if you apply ed. try to get your sat above 2100, get at least 790 on math iic, and 750+ on spanish and us hist. write some good essays. penn makes you write a lot. i think minority and first generation will help you as well. make sure you fill your summer with a good job or internship. overall i'd probably say 60-70% chance of getting in. don't be too distraught if you don't get in. apply to some good matches and safeties. good luck!

Well I think my SAT will be above 2100 my first time around, but if it isn't I'll just take it ASAP on october and take many practice tests. For math as soon as I'm done with AP testing on Wednesday I'm gonna study hardcore on it. I'm also getting some practice tests for spanish and hist so I know I can get 750+ on those easy.

As for jobs, honestly I think I am going to get one, but not to look "good" for college : My mom makes under $20K a year, and if I don't get into Penn I have to pay for applications everywhere else, and I need a car and new clothes so yea, I kinda need a job.

that sounds awesome. yeah a job is good experience too! hey if you need help paying for application fees, i think you can request a waiver or something.

Well, if I do get into Penn then that's all I'd apply for (I'm applying ED), but if I get rejected then I guess I'll get waivers elsewhere

Do you think it'd be fine if I took the SAT in October (2nd time maybe), and had scores rushed to Penn for E.D.?

yeah i'm pretty sure that's fine. check with upenn. ask an admissions officer if they want them rushed or not.

i don't know too much about your chances as i'm only a hs student like yourself but i just thought it was cool to see someone else who plays soccer is trying to get into penn...LoL..i hope you do...i hope i do too :)

Maybe I'm kicking the horse a bit but now I'm scared that the fact I haven't been able to do a lot of ECs/snag leadership positions will be my demise >_>
