I’m from California from a public school that is top 10% or so in the nation and is a California Distinguished School.

Applying to Sociology at all locations

CSU/UC GPA: 3.14 (GPA being low is explained in applications, had some big personal issues during sophomore and junior year pertaining to my family)
Cumulative: 3.31 or so
Full Weighted: 3.90 (Shit ton of Honor and IB Courses, no IB Diploma though)

ACT: 34 (34E 33M 34CR 34S)
SAT: 1890 (620CR 670M 550W)

Community Service:
Relay For Life (15 Weeks, 2Hrs/Week, All 4 years)
Internship with Town’s PD (52 Weeks, 2Hrs/Week, Junior and Senior due to position not existing until then)
Outdoor Science School Counselor (1 Week, 60Hrs/Week, Only done during sophomore year)
Haunted House Builder (12 Weeks, 3Hrs/Week, All 4 years)
District’s Educational Foundation (40 Weeks, 1Hr/Week, All 4 Years)

Personal Statements aren’t some amazing story that is going to make anyone fall to pieces or stand up and cheer but I’d give em each an 8/10 or so.

OSU, Washington State: safety(can you pay?) I kinda think it’s not really good idea to go to OOS just to study sociology…if it’s engineering or science program then maybe.
UCLA/UCSD/UCB: out of reach
UCI/UCD: low reach
UCSB: high match?

Does that GPA include Freshmen? What happened to your sophomore/junior year? Those two are the most important years for UC/CSU schools

The CSU/UC GPA is the 10-11. I can definitely pay for WSU as I am qualified and will almost definitely get their upper level WUE scholarship which is 9k a year which would bring them down to 25k/year. OSU if I get one or two mid-size scholarships and some FA from FAFSA I can afford them as well.

Without going into too much detail about my family’s issues I will say that i was in contact with severe depression that very heavily affected my at-home situation.
I explain this in all my apps. Before spring semester of my sophomore year I was a straight A student and following fall semester of my junior year I have a 3.83 CSU/UC GPA so the GPA i apply with is horrible but if schools acknowledge my recovery after the fact then I hope it can speak for itself.
