just committed, now what?

hi everyone! i'm so excited to be apart of the Trojan Family with you guys. I just committed yesterday so now what should i be expecting to receive or do? i already applied for housing & received my financial aid. is there anything else i should be looking forward to?

thanks! fight on!

Sign up for an orientation date.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Great news :)

Things to do… #1: PASS all your classes with a “C” or higher and graduate from high school. (I am serious. “Senioritis” is a real thing and can sneak up on the very best of students.)

Orientation is a great idea. Investigate the [USC Catalogue, 2010-2011/url for information on your major and on general education, and then look at the [url=<a href=“http://web-app.usc.edu/soc/term_20113.html]Fall”>302 Found]Fall 2011 | Schedule of Classes](http://www.usc.edu/dept/publications/cat2010/) and before orientation make a long list of courses that will get you headed in the right direction so you have lots of flexibility. Hmmm… start shopping for dorm supplies… get a USC sweatshirt/T-shirt… football tickets will go on sale sometime this summer, watch for an email… FUN!!!

Congrats :)

Where do we sign up for orientation?

[Welcome to the USC Orientation Programs Website](http://sait.usc.edu/orientation/sessions/freshman.shtml)

I believe you have to wait about a week to register for orientation after committing. My son committed a couple of days ago and has not received an email yet that it has been processed. If i understand correctly, they need to get you in the system and give you your USC email before you can register for orientation. Can anyone who has registered for orientation talk us thru the time line? Thanks!

Ok, here’s the timeline:
-I committed
-Exactly one week later, I received an email telling me to activate my email account.
-24 hours later, I was eligible to register for orientation.

The whole process takes 8 days. :)

Also, please consider joining the facebook group for admitted students. PM me if you want the link.

I didn’t get any mail from USC even after I committed several weeks ago :/

It came in an email. Check your spam? If you still can’t find it, call the school.

My daughter never got an email after she committed several weeks ago either. She is a spring admit (I don’t know if that matters). She was still able to activate her email. You just need your id number.

Oh wait never mind I got the email!

I just committed online a few minutes ago and, as one would see, I am veryy late.
I understand that the deadline to submit a housing application is tommorow, so how do I do that if I still didn’t recieve a confirmation email from USC yet?

Do I just go to the housing website and fill out a form even though I have no clue where I want to dorm next year?

go to housing.usc.edu

and fill in the application button at the bottom left of the page.

no worries, i just committed too although I did my housing application yesterday. sucks that we’re not gonna get our choices.

I just enrolled too, a few minutes ago. How much of a chance at getting the good dorms do you think we have? I reeeeeally want to stay at Parkside… ugh, wish I’d applied sooner!

I just picked Marks Tower and Pardee.
But, I went up to Step 8.
Was I supposed to go further to ensure I meet the May 2 deadline?

May 2nd deadline means BEFORE May 2nd, or can you finish your application and submit it on May 2nd?

–panic–panic–panic–

How do you activate your USC email?

I’d suggest the FIRST thing to do after accepting is log in and sign up for housing. Dorm request applications are date and time stamped and obviously the most requested dorms fill up first. I believe it just needs a $50 deposit. Do this, even if you are unsure about Financial Aid, etc. The earlier the better in terms of getting 1st or 2nd choice!
