just curious, how important is it to apply SCEA v. RD

My counselor urged me to apply SCEA because it shows the school that they are your number one choice, but I wanted to work on my essays more. Then my good friend from school told me there is a higher acceptance rate for EA in general. Is this true?

I ended up applying RD and now I feel a little nervous. I mean honestly more people are probably accepted EA because more people that are extremely confident apply early. Also, I heard that if you application isn't the strongest, it's best to apply RD so you don't get wedged between someone who wrote a book and someone who won then national science fair or something.

Stanford is my dream school! Please give any ideas...

There’s no difference apart from when you get your results; the difference in the acceptance rates is evened out by the extremely strong pool in the SCEA round. I got in through SCEA, but if you weren’t 100% confident on your essays/application, then it’s better you went RD

EA acceptance was 13.5% this year; I’d estimate the RD acceptance to be around 7.5%

Thanks and congrats on getting in!
