Which are your top choices? My son is a senior @ New Paltz and has friends or was accepted to almost all schools on your list. You have quite a range of types of schools…what are you looking for in terms of atmosphere?

Top choices are probably Boston U & Ithaca although it changes everyday. I guess I’m not exactly sure what I’m looking for, which is why my list is so varied. I do know that I want a good college in an interesting city or college town. I do like New Paltz from what I hear, but I have yet to visit so I can’t be completely sold. I plan to visit very soon as it is a financial safety for me and I hear a lot of good things about it.

pretty much in everywhere. Good luck :)

I agree with BLK and theRAD, you have great stats and they should get you in everywhere. BU is tough to get into, but its definitely within your reach. Good luck.

Which of the schools have you visited? My son has stayed with a friend at BostonU a couple of times. He really enjoyed Boston, there is a lot to do there. Another good friend of his went to UConn and had a rough adjustment. It is in a very isolated location…the exact opposite of BU. Nothing to do in the area at all. We know Hofstra pretty well - my younger daughter has taken classes there. It has a very large commuter population but the food is very good for a college campus. We visited Marist and noticed that all of the students we saw had somewhat of a preppy appearance, not a bad thing, just not the right fit for our son. Good friends of ours have their son at Buffalo and he has had a good experience there. It is a good choice if you don’t mind a lot of travel (depending where you live) and a very large school. One of my son’s housemates transferred to New Paltz from Fordham. Don’t know much about his actual Fordham experience except that he said he was much happier at New Paltz. My neighbor graduated from Ithaca and we also have another friend attending now. Both seem to like the school well enough, but my neighbor said he would have chosen differently if he had to do it over again. If you are looking for a school with a more creative and outside of the box experience, then New Paltz would be it. It’s very down to earth with a close knit community feeling. My son is very happy there. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Thanks guys!
& Thanks LilyMoon. My cousin went to New Paltz and my family insists I check it out. It seems you really like it too! I visited Ithaca, Syracuse & Fordham & Hofstra so far. It’s so hard making all these visits. My next 2 will be New Paltz and Marist since they’re pretty close. Than Boston & UConn will follow. & I’ll eventually get to Buffalo & Vermont, they’re just so far (I’m in Long Island).

Anyone else?

We are from Long Island too. Good luck with your visits!
