Hey everybody, I know around this time many people are applying to NYU! If anybody has any questions I'd be happy to answer them. :)

What’s your major?

I’m at Gallatin studying Developmental Disorders, art therapy, music therapy and theatre therapy.

I also plan on minoring in Film/television through tisch

Question on the NYU supplement:

The supplemental question asks “NYU is global, urban, inspired, smart, connected, and bold. What can NYU offer you, and what can you offer NYU? (200-400 words)”

Should the focus of the essay primarily be on NYU as whole or the specific school we are applying to?

In the supplement I think its best to be specific as possible. NYU wants to see that you REALLY want to go, and the only way they’ll be able to see that is if you mention specific things about the university. For me, I wrote a paragraph about why I want to go to the university of NYU, and spoke specifically about it being a global network. I then spent the majority of the essay writing about Gallatin and why Gallatin will be the perfect fit for me. Id say 25-75 ratio would be best.

Also, keep it original. I bet they get a lot of essays that say, “new york city is amazing, its my dream”.

@saharatasticc by being specific what do you mean? My friend is applying to tisch and she’s confused about what info to include?

Would you be willing to share your essay?

In your opinion, does applying ED2 make that much of a difference from RD? I heard the rates were similar anyways.

Hii congrats on getting through your first semester. So I’m applying as a transfer student but currently I am undeclared but thinking of either majoring in finance or philosophy what schools should I apply too ,obviously Stern but how about for the other concentration I may want to pursue . Also I didn’t do well on my SAT from 2013 will that be a big issue for a transfer student because my grades and GPA are excellent its just my SAT score thats not so hot . Thank You
Hi! I got in NYU in ED1 last month, and my major is B.S. in Real Estate. This was one of my second major choices, and I actually did not know much about it.(It’s kind of unknown in NYU) I searched its official website, but I wished to know more about this major. Did you know this major? Could I double major it and psychology or policy or other majors? Could I take minors(the cross-school minor thing) if it’s my major? Thanks!
I’m still in high school but through a program I’m in I’ll be visiting NYU soon! How is the career services at NYU?
