Just for "fun"... a simple random sample of the CC list of SCEA applicants.

Who would get in, if it was totally random?

So. There are 48 of us according to the thread. Let’s assume a couple people haven’t seen the thread, making it a nice even 50. The EA admit rate last year was 15.8%. Let’s assume that CCers are generally better students than most, so our admit rate might be around 20% conservatively for EA.

Meaning that off of that list, maybe like 10 of us will get in.

Holy ****.

Well, just for fun, let’s do a simple random sample! This is random and means absolutely nothing. I’m kind of trying to convince myself that I’m not getting in. It’ll make D-Day (Decision day) a little easier.

'Kay, so the numbers that come up are:
33, 14, 19, 18, 42, 7, 30, 44, 12, 10

SparkeEcrash78

Congratulations! You ten were admitted in this simulation! Yay! (I knew I wouldn’t be! :P)

Lets see who would be deferred (about 30%? or so I’ve heard. So 15 of us):
21, 38, 5, 4, 41, 23, 40, 39, 1, 20, 15, 32, 31, 28, 34

Satellitel2000

hutchsparks

Crut

blondie625

DazedNConfoozled

Congratulations! You still have hope! (I didn’t even get deferred?? In my own SRS??? sheesh.)

The rest of us, not so much.

But let’s all just be glad that I am just a very nervous 17-year-old Stanford hopeful with a TI-84 Plus, an affinity for AP Stats and a realistic-pessimism streak. :D

and I have too much time on my hands. :stuck_out_tongue: Even though that’s a lie too. :)

Clutch!!!!

lol, this was funny only because I am in AP Stat.

deferred...:(, better than rejected i guess

me too, haha. gotta love the SRS.

haha.
TI-84 plus.
u funny kid

Random-int is a girl's best friend... I hate random digit tables.

Deferred! haha! (though I wouldn't find it so funny if this were reality.... =[ )

Haha - I hated doing those stupid simulations with random digit tables; TI-84 FTW!

well there are many extraneous factors that could occur leading to a skewed set of data. for all we know our data set could result in a skew or more or less kids depending on whether we are better or worse than average admittance requirements. Obviously its not a linear relationship so we will have to use transformations to graph the residual plots for all possible combinations. With this complete, we might be able to find a curve that accurately portrays the relationship that will soon become known as SCEA class of 2012.

Owned.

fluff??? I've done that on a question too though hehe.

Yes!! Deferred! lol... i probably would be happy for this too...

haha, interesting idea.

I was deferred...

You didn't block for race or other meaningful demographics.

Fail.

I love how everyone is taking this so seriously. Why can't people just get the joke? There's no ACTUAL way of determining who or how many on the list will get in. Duh.

Casio's better. =p

now calculate the probability that this will actually happen

at least i'm not rejected

accepted!!!!!!!!!!

What's really scary is that with the SCEA admit rate at 15.8%, you have a slightly higher chance of rolling the number you want on a six-sided dice than getting admitted.

Oh, and I didn't put my name on the list. Whoops.

i guess ur one of those people who forgot to apply...
