It would be so wonderful if I already had three Harry Potter buddies before coming to college ...

Not to mention Jane Austen. All of my friends are great readers, but they are more modern in their habits.

Ooh, I want to join the P and P party! I say we have a marathon and watch Colin Firth for 5 hours in the BBC one!

Glinda, we definitely have to take a trip to NY to see Wicked ASAP. Have you heard about the little subsidized trips Princeton offers, where they bus you up to see a Broadway show for really cheap? Honestly, when I heard about that, it was one of the biggest tipping factors in favor of Princeton! :)

Oh, I want to see Wicked too ... I can hardly wait to see operas and plays in New York! Culture at last! We have some great student productions at Notre Dame, but fifty minutes to Broadway is what I'M talkin' about ...

pastariffic: I am such a big Harry Potter fan! I'm one of the people who dresses up for the midnight releases of the books. I'm not as big of a fan of the movies, but they've been getting better. What is your debate on? If it's even remotely regarding Snape, I'm all for it! (He's my favorite; so intriguing!) Yes, I know someone from Mugglenet. Not intimately well or anything, but he does tech crew for our shows, in which I was deeply involved. He's one cool kid. ;)

sky9073: I definitely recommend Lost. However, my advice does come with a warning. Lost is one of those shows that is instantly addictive, and they reveal very little and just present more and more mysteries! The set up is really cool though, as each episode focuses on one character and uses stories from their past to add to their character development on the island. It's well into the second season though, and we, the viewers, still have no idea what's going on! But we love it. :)

elphaba88: I am ridiculously excited for discounted tickets!!! I'll basically be signing up for every single trip. Wicked's awesome, have you seen it? I've seen it three times, through different companies that offered my father tickets at once (long story), and once I won the lottery! First row was really cool, as I'm sure you can imagine.

This is so great, I'm making so many friends already! I can't wait to get to Princeton!

glinda: Sounds intriguing :) Although suspense isn't really my thing, I'm all for character development and unexpected plot turns, so I'll definitely try to see the first season once AP's are over (not that I need to kill myself studying, but I've paid for a ridiculous number of tests already. bleh.) And then I'll check my cable service about the second season (I'm abroad). Whee.

Ah, if we're talking Broadway... er, you guys probably won't be able to get rid of me. And then you'll hear music from whatever show we saw for a week on whichever piano I end up torturing. Fun stuff ;)

Just realized I'd never posted my answers, so here goes:

2 adjectives: Creative and Random

I totally have issues with the "favorites" questions, so these aren't necessarily my very very favorite things... though they're up there on the list somewhere.

glinda: I haven't seen it yet. But... it comes on tour to Seattle this fall and I've got tickets! I can't even imagine how much cooler it will be in NYC! And when we get back, sky9073 can play the songs and we'll sing :) Are you planning on doing any theatre at Princeton? I hope I'll be able to get into some shows.

pastariffic, do you realize that we will be at Princeton when the holy-sacred last HP book comes out? shock and awe We need to hold the most fantastic HP midnight party ever to honor the occasion!

Aaaah, you're right elphaba, we will be at Pton when HP 7 comes out! I can't wait! Or maybe I can. I don't want the series to end. Maybe we should organize some discussion panel or something about HP at Princeton... I could talk about Snape Good v. Snape Evil to no end.

So I'm so excited that so many people are signing on to my P and P party idea! I do think we need to have a marathon some weekend, considering that Colin Firth is my future husband... you have no idea how obsessed with him I am.

ahem, he's already taken points to self lol ;)

And Snape is definitely good. No question about it. I think Snape's definitely my favorite character in the whole series.

A P&P party! Count me in! The Mr. Collins in the BBC version makes me laugh soooo much... I'm laughing even as I'm thinking about it...

Agreed. Snape is good, and he's possibly my favorite character as well! And Alan Rickman = <3 (Have you seen Dogma?)

That P&P party is definitely happening. :D I'm in! I haven't seen the new version yet, and I'm so excited! And besides, my life is paralleling P&P right now in the most ridiculous way.

Hey, whats up ...First time posting on a forum EVER...Way to go everyone on getting accepted! Congrats!
Your favorite book: Out of the Dust, The Little Prince, and Cien Anos de Soledad, en espanol
Your favorite magazine:Vogue, for sure. Read it like the bible.
Your favorite recording: Uhm...so I didn't really know what this part meant....like recording? I think I put the one video of me in the Nutcracker where I make this really great entrance as the Snow Queen and I have this solo in front of the whole corp and then my shoe falls off my foot completely so I have to go off stage in the middle of the dance. But I think it meant a song...?
Your favorite movie: Easy - Breakfast at Tiffany's with Audrey Hepburn, but also Hable Con Ella, La Vita Bella, and the Godfather, all three of them
Your favorite source of news: the New York Times
Your favorite web site: http://www.style.com
Your favorite keepsake or memento: The first phone number I got from a boy (sigh) written on a queen of hearts playing card
Your favorite source of inspiration: I wish I could remember...
Two adjectives your friends would use to describe you: zesty, romantic, outgoing, dedicated, sentimental, sophisticated, stylish, spontaneous, and...indecisive, can't you tell?
PS: Is there anyone else from Oregon heading to Princeton?

Glinda, the Snape debate on HPANA is over (the defense of Snape TOTALLY won ... yes!!) Most of us Snape proponents simply smile condescendingly when we encounter those who think Snape is evil. I'm actually in a debate about, well, Ron and Hermione. Namely, between Ron/Hermione and Harry/Hermione. If anyone here ships Harry/Hermione just tell me now so I can adjust to the idea of having a friend who really thinks Harry and Hermione could ever make each other happy.

Now you probably think I'm insane, just like all my friends at home do. Too late!

And elphaba88, we MUST have a midnight party for Harry Potter! I practically cried at the bookstore while waiting for the sixth book, gave up, ran to the grocery store, sprinted through the aisles to get a copy, and read all night. And I plan on celebrating the next arrival with an all-night reading binge! I can hardly wait!

And does someone here do theatre? I can't sing for anything, but I love to act. My dad is worried that Princeton will be too big for me to keep up with theatre, but I want to so much ... and it would be wonderful to have a friend in theatre too!

I can't even get started on Pride and Prejudice right now ... it's too late for me to gush any more than I already have ...

Welcome, LaRemedito! I'm from Indiana, actually, so pretty far from Oregon. But diversity is good!

Gosh, I should admit now that I'm not sure if I'm going to Princeton. But if I DO, I'll expect you all to be there organizing our P&P party the first week! :-P

points at Hannah - TheaterGirl62

I ship Ron/Hermione as well. Ron is just so cute and awkward! Hehe.

But I must admit, I haven't read/seen any HP since GoF. Someone spoiled OotP for me, and I refuse to read it unless JKR brings Sirius back in book 7.

So. I will finish reading the series on two conditions: (1) Sirius returns. (2) Remus and Snape don't die in book 7 -- which are some of the current theories.

Looks like a lot of people also like The Little Prince. Let us also make that a part of our party.

This is a nice thread...

I see there are many people with similar interests as mine....

The Alchemist -- sky9073.....that is a good book aint it...
and School of Rock...ROcks!!...nice movie...

and Kjoodles....did you really write sexy baby..in your application??

and finally.......The eye of the Tiger.....it appeared in VH1s Top 25 awesomly bad No. 1 songs in history!!!

pastariffic you HAVE to go to Princeton now. You've already sealed an oath in blood to have the geekiest PP and HP get-togethers ever! :) If you go I'll be your theatre buddy! Funny, I have the same worry as your dad. I'm not going to be a music or theatre major, but that stuff has been practically my whole life so far, and I want to be able to continue at Princeton.

Welcome LaRemidito! I'm from Washington, so we're practically neighbors. Good to see another northwesterner representing on the scary east coast.

You guys are like my soulmates! PP, Snape-lovers, thespians! Aah!

pastariffic: where else are you considering? Come to Princeton!!!

I'm definitely doing theater at Princeton. Not as a major, as an activity. My favorite is musical theater, so the Princeton University Players are looking really good. Our musical just ended here, and I'm going through withdrawal!

Just a note about the 7th Harry Potter book: they usually come out in July, which means we'll be at home for the release. So that midnight party might have to be a re-read party. ;)

I just found out that I can't go to April Hosting. Not that I was invited (EDer) but I was going to drive up for the day. But I'll be in Chicago for Spring Break... :(

Come on pastariffic, how can you pass up Potterite Pride and Prejudice Princetonites? Or alliteration, for that matter? You should come to the party anyway even if you're not going to Princeton, just take a day off from wherever you DO go so you can show up.

Yeah, I agree with Snape good, my only qualm is that I still don't think he's a good person, he just isn't on t he bad side. He is WAY too mean to Neville to have any redeeming character, if you ask me.

And yes, Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny all the way. I cannot WAIT for RH to FINALLY get together.

I also cannot WAIT for September 7. If everyone at Princeton is like you guys, I am soooooooo happy I'm going there. Not that I'm not so happy I'm going there anyway, haha, but I just cannot imagine a better college experience than with some Austen/Rowling fans, though I might have to battle it out with elphaba over which one of is currently engaged to marry Colin Firth.

lol! I'm so happy there's normal people here!

glinda, what's the Princeton University Players like? Is it musical theatre, open to non-majors? b/c that's exactly what I want!

And not to mention the Triangle Club - musical theater written by students and DEFINITELY open to non-majors.
