There is my piece, any input on my chances is appreciated greatly.

If you got your SAT scores up, you'd have a great shot at all of them (although I don't know about MIT) especially with URM status.

Vanderbilt- Great shot.
I'm not too familiar with U of Texas :(.

However, I cannot stress enough to get that SAT up or try for the ACT. It can be a deal-breaker.

Your rank and GPA are amazing. The only thing I noticed that you're lacking is community service. Plus, you many want to narrow down your ECs to the ones you are very passionate about.

Please return the favor and chance me if you wouldn't mind. [Thread title is "This thread has no title, just words and a tune"]. No problem if you don't.

Good luck :).

Thanks, I will return the favor =). I forgot to mention that I have a lot of community service hours from National Honor Society because I have to show up at each community event. Also I have a few from doing things on my own with different clubs at the school. Yeap, SAT is on my mind right now.

Great grades, and I'm sure that you can get your SAT up, considering the fact your current scores are from sophomore year. XD Your ECs are really good 'cause they're things that you did consistently and clearly took an active role in.

Also: have you looked at Johns Hopkins? Best BME program ever, and the campus is beautiful! Might not be the kind of thing you're looking for, but as a biomedical engineering major, you should definitely consider it if you haven't already.

With your current SAT I, MIT, Columbia, Yale, and Cornell are unlikely. But if you get them up, nothing is unrealistic -- URM helps, too. ;]

Your involvement in Sci Olympiads is really good, but any further distinction in math or science would be a huge boost for your MIT chances.

Also, I'd recommend retaking the Biology subject test only because it's relevant to your major. Having had some of AP Bio should help. It's not a huge deal, but getting that to 750+ or at least 700+ would look really good. (:

I was contemplating Johns Hopkins but I wanted a school where I could learn everything about well...everything. Through school and the people that go to the university =). SAT is a primary retake, and I might take sat bio again. Thanks

Wow...great GPA great Class Rank....good Ec's.....SAT II not bad. Like me alot! I am going to study like crazy for Oct SAT's. I think you have a good chance ...

M.I.T (Top choice)...reach
Columbia...reach
Yale...reach
Vanderbilt...MATCH!
Cornell...very possible!
University of Texas-Austin with Plan II Honors...Match!

with that said...like me if you can get those SAT's up and have awesome essays then I think you could be offered admission at all.....MIT is really tough for everyone, even those with 800's. But hey.....you never know. Dream Big and Good Luck!

bumpppppppp

double bump ahha

triple bump, any input desired

Just have awesome essays for UT's Plan II, it counts for about 40% of the final decision

Good luck :)

I would think you're in at atleast one of the Ivies or MIT, I think you're also in at Cornell/Vandy/Texas

In all reality, you should be in at UT, Vandy, and Cornell. Columbia and Yale are big possibilities because of your high GPA, rank, and quality EC's. The only thing holding you back is your SATs...yeah I know I'm restating the obvious.

No offense, but I'm kinda concerned that although you want to major in BME, your Chem AP is a 3, your Math II is 700, and your SAT Chem is 700. Sorry if I'm nitpicking, but I'm very Asian as you can see. The scores are a little low for my comfort zone.

Thanks everyone!! aznschoolboi22, no offense taken dude. I am used to the Asian thing (about 3/4 of my friends are lol). I'm going to do BME because its interesting stuff with a challenging curriculum, and I want to go to medical school in the future. As for my SAT IIs and AP Chem cant really change them but I am taking AP bio this year, so we'll see how it goes. Continue the input!!

Bring your SATs up and you have a decent shot at all.

I like how your ECs are (refreshingly) very focused, and how you've done them all 4 years.

Like everyone else sad, just bump up the SATs and your SAT II Biology to a 700+. M.I.T., Yale, and Columbia might be a bit of a reach at this point, but Cornell should be fine.

URM with a 4.0? Nice :)

yeap, being a URM with a 4.0 helps a lot lol.

thanks for post. Your stats are amazing compared to mine. I think if you bump your SATs and SATIIs and get some more community service all the colleges will be a shoe in for you except MIT (that will just be a high possibility)
