Due to a small problem at the high school office :), my son was not told he was on the Commended List when everyone else was told. But when the list came out last week - there he was! He has already applied online to 4 schools. Any suggestions on how to get this information into his application? He plans on making calls next week but thought someone else may have another idea. Thanks.

What is this "Commended List?" Honor roll or something?

My assumption would be that her son is a NM Commended Scholar, but I may very well be wrong.

commended scholar you get something in the mail as well right?

If his SAT scores were as high or higher as the PSAT, it really doesn't matter if the college sees he was commended for his PSAT score.

I didn't get something in the mail, my guidance counselor handed it to me.

Yes, he was Commended National Merit based on PSAT scores. He did not get anything in the mail though - a list was posted on the school's web site. Muffy - thanks for the tip about the SAT being higher than the PSAT. Appreciate everyone's comments.

rphip - A short email message with the National Merit/Commended news, followed up with a short letter sent by snail mail, to each institution, would be the most reliable way to be most sure the information gets into your sons file, IMO. That's what we did to update my son's applications with important information. A telephone message seems easy to mislay.
