A school on the west coast worth checking out is the University of San Diego (USD). It has a beautiful campus and a strong academic reputation. Its football program is Division I-AA, and USD is a member of the Pioneer League, a conference that includes schools such as Davidson (South Carolina), Drake (Iowa), and Dayton (Ohio). USD's head coach is Jim Harbaugh, the ex-QB of the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, and San Diego Chargers.

Wow, thanks for the great posts. Yesterday, my S was so amazed that people were taking an interest in his life. I think I turned him on to CC for life! Kat, I may contact you directly if that is ok. In regards to other posts, Jamimom, we have been doing exactly as you said, looking at rosters and sizes. I do worry about my DS. He still has two years left of varsity fb in a Texas 5A district (which means big schools with BIG boys), and the most important thing for me is that he not get hurt. When I saw some of the guys that he had to block this past fall, I nearly fainted. They have got to outway him by anywhere from 50 to 100 pounds. He is currently 5' 10" and 200 pounds, but during the football season he topped out at around 178, yikes!! There are some monsters around here!! You are right about some of the southern teams having some big guys. We looked at Richmond in particular and they seem to have many. Washington and Lee and Davidson looked more his size. Right now, he says he wants to major in history and, guess what - teach and coach. My husband played football for U. of Texas and after he graduated he coached for a few years, like father like son. About paying for school, he does not need to get a football scholarship to attend a school (thanks to generous grandparents who have set up good college funds for all the kids), but if he continues on the path he is on now academically, he should qualify for some merit aid. We are keeping our fingers crossed! It seemed to work with #1 S.

We are familiar with Trinity, a couple of boys from school have gone there for football. It is a great school. Will check out USD too.

As for finding CC without knowing about Williams... It is amazing what google can do!! CC has been a godsend with getting information this past year. So many really knowledgeable people, it is amazing!!

It is not as big of a factor in highschool as the testosterone levels vary so that a mature 200 pounder can "take" someone bigger and heavier. But in college , as your H can attest, size starts making a difference. Two former players are really broken in many pieces because though they are tough skilled players, they were a bit small for their league. Check out the website www.johntreed. You'll have to find the football coaching part of it and it will open a whole world of football recruiting for the ivies and like schools.
