Hey everyone! I’m seriously still in shock right now. Today I noticed that I’d missed a call from Massachusetts. I assumed that it was either a random scam or a random college. Turned out that it was the admissions officer in charge of Missouri, where I’m from, and half of Kansas. I have no idea how or why, but she said that I’m going to get a Likely Letter within a week or so! I seriously have no idea why. I’m not a recruited athlete. I haven’t won any huge competitions, or cured cancer, or built water wells in Africa, or anything like that. I figured I had the same small chance that just about everyone has for Harvard’s RD. I just want to say to anyone else out there that anything and everything is possible with these places. Maybe they liked my personality, or my essays were good. I seriously have no idea.
I’m not sure where I’ll end up going next year. I got deferred in Yale’s ED, and it’s still probably my favorite. But now instead of Mizzou, I know that I’ll have Harvard no matter what else happens. I can’t believe that I deserve this over the rest of the 40,000 applicants out there. As I understand, Harvard sends out around 300 Likely Letters, and 200 are for athletes. But I’m so incredibly thankful for this.
