So, I just got a call from 'Nova. I got in off the waitlist. But I've already committed to LMU (in SoCal for all you east coast-ers)...and 'Nova is giving me until Monday to decide.

I really really REALLY wanted to go to 'Nova, and was pretty upset when I got deferred and then waitlisted.

Anyone have any pro (or against) Nova arguments to help make this a little easier?

ummm i don't have anything relevant to say, but i do want to say CONGRATS!!!! i know we kinda stressed through EA and RD together. i got waitlisted too but decided not to stay on- i hope you choose villanova though! just remember: there's a reason why you wanted to go there so badly

zimmee32: Congratulatons on your acceptance to Villanova!! I realize how tough this decision must be after waiting so long and making your decision on LMU. Only you can know which campus FEELS right for you. Did you visit both campuses?

I did a quick comparison on Collegeboard.com and both schools seem very similar: both suburban Catholic schools and both cost about the same

Here would be MY concerns (keep in mind, I'm bias towards Villanova and have never been to LMU):
- your stats are above average and according to Collegeboard, LMU, has a much lower SAT score average than Villanova. LMU may be too easy for you or you may not feel as challenged.
- Villanova has 2,000 more students than LMU...giving you a more, larger college feel rather than a "big high school" campus feel
- Villanova has 74% of their undergrad living on campus vs. LMU with 49%...again, Villanova seems to ME has a more college campus/living feel to it.
- Extracurricular activities/sports etc....again, Collegeboard show Villanova having more activities available than LMU (if this is important to you).
- I think the biggest plus for LMU would be the great weather all year round (can't beat that!!)

Now are you from Northern California? Do you have connections in PA or lived in the area before? Will distance, air plane tickets home...etc, be a factor in your decision?

Personally, I've lived in Northern California and could NOT stand visiting Southern California (especially, Los Angeles).

Hope this helped any...I'm sure you knew all this already...I just thought I'd put in my two cents!

Good luck!!! Just remember, your college experience is what YOU put into it. Wherever you decide to go, I'm sure you will do great things.

Does anyone know if Villanova has filled their freshman class? Just wondering if they are still working with the wait list.

Honestly, I'm going to be a sophomore at Nova and I absolutely love the school. I went there without ever visiting and I would never take that decision back. The academics are great, the environment is safe and community-oriented, but the people is the best part. Choose Nova, you won't be disappointed.

i live in ca myself and i have a great interest in nova...

it would definitely be my choice of the two

I'm going out to visit tomorrow. It sucks that school isn't still in session, but at least I'll get to see the campus before I make my decision! I've never even been to Philly before, so it should be fun.

im from norcal too. i applied to both nova and lmu and got accepted (im going to Boston College tho)...LMU is really nice but academically and in terms of prestige, it is no where near villanova. i dont know if u have visited, but philadelphia is really nice. its up to u where u like more but in my opinion there should be no question. go to villanova.

it is totally your decision in the end, but it would be a very easy one for me to make. i was also admitted to villanova from the waiting list, and the second i got the call i told them that i would definitely be coming and i withdrew from the other school that i had decided on the next day. as long as you are happy with your choice that is all that matters. and since the deadline for your decision has obviously passed, i am just curious, which did you choose???
