Actually my dream schools are all in California but with the out of state tuition cost, I don’t think that is a possibility. My dream school in Texas is UT Austin, but I’m not sure if I could get in. Otherwise, I’m looking at UT Dallas, A&M, Texas Tech, UT San Antonio or U of Houston (which is too close to home for me).
I’m not a bad student and a lot of teachers like me, but the subjects that I’m not the best in are math and I do well in English and such. I still don’t make all A’s but that’s just a matter of me slacking a bit. I made 4 A’s this year and 2 C’s and 1 B. Although I’m not good at math, I’m really good in computer science and as such am recommended by my computer science teacher for different scholarships for girls in the field. I’m considering making that my major although CNS at UT Austin is difficult to get into.
So, my rank came out today, and it is improved from last year, but still terrible. I have a 200/493 rank, putting me in the top 40%.
My SAT score was: Math, 550, 570
Reading, 670, 710
Writing, 700, 680
The first number is the first time, the second number is the second time. This is the old SAT by the way, and I’m a junior.
Despite my slacking, I’m a fairly good tester, I took 4 AP exams this year and am positive I got 4 and 5. Sophomore year, I took 2 AP exams but 3 AP classes, and next year, my senior year, I will be taking 5 AP classes.
When I take the SAT again, I hope to have a high score in the 1500’s range, I haven’t taken the new one yet. Also, I’m doing really well with ACT prep, and I am positive that I will have a score above 30, I’m studying incredibly hard this summer.
I’ve won scholarship money already through essays, I love to write. So I think I can write some unique essays and impress the college people. I’m also in a long, long list of extracurriculars, so I guess I’m well rounded.
So, what do you think? I can embellish on my extra curriculars if you’d like!
Also, if anyone knows how to calculate UC gpa, could you please help. I’m still applying although I probably can’t go with the out-of-state tuition. My parents said that if I have enough scholarships then maybe, so we’ll see.
