I got into UMD honors college for computer science but I really want to switch to finance. I put down computer science when i applied due to uncertainty. However, how can i switch now?
@maryversity have an answer?

@Prodigee just call the admissions office, they can help you.
@terpgirl but do you think they would even let me? since finance is an LEP major.
@Prodigee they will. I think they’ll review up until May, requesting the change and review sooner than later is better though.
@Prodigee Contact admissions. They will probably have you contact Smith admissions. If you are sure you want to transfer to finance, I would do it before you even start. It’s a little trickier once you’ve begun somewhere else. Since you were accepted to honors, I’m guessing you have a good shot at being a direct admit to Smith. It will be easier now than as an internal transfer. Good luck!
if i didn’t get accepted today and a lot of people from my school did does that mean i was deferred or rejected?? Im getting really worried!! :-S
Are you sure? Check your email. I think everyone got decisions today.
Taylor, were u applying to the music school?
@taylorlxox I am in the same exact boat as you. What is going on??
@jillr4 so I applied to the music school and haven’t gotten a decision yet. Is that normal?
if i ask to be transferred to another major and get rejected will i lose my original admission?
nope no music school for me!
I’m going to be refreshing my email all day today! Hopefully we’ll get it today #:-S
@Prodigee Contact admissions! Any reason for switching into finance? I can speak to Smith and some of the majors there if you have any specific questions. Most of my friends here are in Smith/Clark!
Idk, I ended up deciding that I’ll try CS and transfer afterwards. I wanna give CS a chance. But thanks! See ya on campus…most likely
If you’re interested in the business aspect of CS, a double major’s always possible. Also, Honors EIP is a good program for that; I know two/three CS majors in there. However, it’s mainly engineers/business majors.
@Vctory I didn’t get in Honors/Scholars, will i still be able to transfer to clark engineering, and how can i have und relook me for honors college because i think my credentials are worthy enough for honors college. Thanks!
@laceyy so turns out my sat scores went to the wrong school, University of Maryland University College … I didn’t even think that it was a school. Just thought the “Park” part was left out due to characters… Such a bummer
That is horrible!! I’m so sorry. Is there a way to still apply regular decision? @taylorlxox
@Prodigee
If you think you want to do finance ask to be considered now, if you wait until after your first semester you will have to do extremely well (GPA 3.5+) to have a good chance to get in. Trust me, getting that GPA is not as easy as it is in HS.
CS and business can be double majored (but its not easy). Smith just started a minor and that may be good option if you decide that you want to do CS only.
