Just Got An Email From Harvard! Eek!

Hey everyone - so this is my first post! I'm an anonymous cc-holic but I think I'd been too afraid to post around here. So I'm an international and I just got an e-mail from a Harvard admissions officer telling me that they don't have my Official SAT I scores, so they want my counselor to fax them.
So after some creative conspiracies that I concocted in my head I would like to know what you guys think about this... should I just shrug it off? Or does being in the run at getting into Harvard to this date mean something good?
Please do calm my anxiety a bit! :P

It means they don't have your SAT I scores. It means nothing else. What I do not understand is how they cannot have them if they have your SAT II scores.

cuz you they have in your common app.

anyway, so does that mean Harvard is STILL making and revising their decisions? Good.

Same question popped in my head about not having SAT-R when they did have the SAT II's... I checked what the collegeboard website said and they say they send a cumulative record, of both of them. Maybe they got lost?

Well, what surprises me the most is that they are still revising the applications.

That is quite surprising, but then again, you're an international, so maybe the international process is different?

Did you send the SAT II scores before you took the SAT Reasoning Test? That may explain something.

I sent them afterwards.. well, I never sent my SAT- R, I just assumed that they were both going to be sent at the same time, except that the last SAT-related exams I took were my SAT IIs

If you ordered the II's sent after you had already taken the SAT I, then Harvard should have gotten all scores in one report. Of course, the College Board could have screwed up -- something that appears to have a much higher probability these days than people used to think.

I´m an international student, and this is the third time I apply to Harvard. What I know is that by this time the admission committee has decided who is admitted. But I guess your application is an special case and they may need the official score report to make an accurate decision on your application. If I were you, I´d contact the office of admission and ask them about it. I´m currently studying at the Harvard Extension School, and I went to the office of admissions last week. I think international students can send the financial aid forms even after the deadline, but admission material is no longer accepted. But if they are asking you for the score report, that´s because at least your application has not been put in the trash.

Good Luck!

Jaz

The SAT scores are on the same College Board report as the SAT II scores. It is probably more likely that Harvard admissions made a mistake than it is that CB sent only the SAT II scores. This is especially true if you have a copy of the CB report in your hand. If you do, then have it faxed to Harvard. From the email, it seems that Harvard would like to have your counselor fax them.

Don't read anything into this. Harvard is now looking at your application and they need your SAT scores before they can do anything else. It doesn't mean that you have a greater or lower chance of being accepted because you got the email.

It should mean that you haven't hit the "reject pile" yet... :)

Then again, Harvard does like to brag about the superb quality of those to whom they decline admission. One would hope they aren't calling to add your score to that average.

Good luck!
