I am going to apply UChicago EA and either Cornell, Rice or Amherst ED. Any thoughts? If you need my SATs, refer to previous posts. Or I'll just say I'm perfect on all tests. I'm just wondering how this will weigh against my LOW UW and pretty mediocre transcript-all AP courses taken, but I self studied for 6 of my tests(didn't get 5 on any of them).

Thanks, I really appreciate any input. Also, when sending off apps, do people generally send colleges their AP score report? I ask this because the common app never specifies to do so(they only leave blanks for the scores), and no one from my school did? Thanks again.

Just enter the AP scores in the area provided - I would just put down the 4's and 5's. Congratulations, btw.

Are you going to include a performance cd?

I like your changes at Rice and Cornell better than Amherst - but if you like Amherst the best you should go for it. Your fate at Chicago will be determined by your essay.

You can never really tell how these things will turn out with an application that has a weakness in it. But you seem like a pretty high-energy kid and I think you will do well. Go for your best grades senior year, though.

you took 13 APs before senior year? That's insane.

Haha...iono, just did it

Anymore information? All input is truly appreciated.

weeeee! hey desi dude, ull get into all colleges pretty much brb i gotta eat some somosas

That's awesome that you already have some of your research published. But with your GPA, is there is a reason why it's so low? Can you get your Guidance Couselor to explain that you go to a really hard school or something like that?

didn't u also get into RSI?

I think you have an extremely high probability of acceptance to the colleges that you listed (assuming that your SAT's aren't horrible). I believe that you list scores on the app, and if you enrole, the college will want a score report.

I don't understand how y'all just think you can put off getting a low gpa as simply "I go to a hard school". I go to a private prep school and I've got a 4.0 uw and I've taken many AP and advanced classes. Even if I had a low gpa, I wouldn't use a crap excuse like that!

i agree with neb. my gpa was a product of me giving a rats mother about hmwk my junior year when I was applying to colleges. no excuses, i agree. but, at least with my good AP scores and SAT scores I hope it can be compensated? my sats are:
1600 old SAT, 800 bio, 800 writing, 800 lit, 800 whist, 800 ushist, not gonna post the three others. yeah, i took a crapload of tests.

Last time for this post. Anymore comments?

The combination of lower GPA and high SAT scores is not the best. Unless you have a really good reason (family trauma, etc), selective colleges will have serious doubts about your work ethic. In almost all cases, selective colleges consider your high school record and difficulty of classes taken to be of more importance than scores. I suggest you discuss this with your counselor.

assuming that u hav amazing SAT scores...I'd say that the colleges u chose r in the bag...if u write a kick butt (sorry, no cursing here) essay...someone I knew had no leadership positions, no ec's, no ap classes, only a 3.9 gpa and a 1400 SAT...but she wrote a hella good essay and got accepted to rice...apparently ur essay there is important

what ever happened to RSI?

my dad felt it would be better if I stayed home and continued the research I had started here-more continuation for talent competitions. i got a pretty large grant so it's looking promising here.

yea, but if u went to RSI, u wouldn't be asking for chances....u'd be in....
