Hey guys I just got CAPPED and I was browsing through the other forums about CAP students but I haven't grabbed the concept of CAP all the way. This year, UT Austin is offering me 4 colleges and from them I am deciding to attend UT Tyler. As I read along, it stated that you are only guaranteed into two colleges, College of Liberal Arts and School of Undergraduate Studies. I'm planning to major in CompSci and I was told from others that I should transfer after a year to UT Austin into Undergraduate studies, but I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do.

Also, has anything changed from the previous CAP programs? I was browsing through other forums and some people said that they don't recommend students who have AP credits to enroll in CAP? I was wondering if that was true?

I'm looking for some wise response to make my quick decision. Thank you

Hello, i got the CAP offer as well and I chose the option of UT Tyler, i feel like I’m one of the very few people who chose Tyler
But anyways Cap used to give you guaranteed admission into college of natural sciences but now you can only choose from liberal arts or undergraduate studies
And because your CAP school will not accept your AP credits that you may have tested for in high school, you might not want to do CAP because then all of that would have gone to waste. However, when you get to UT after your CAP year you can request to have whatever AP classes you took added to however many credits you have. I think this is true, but you should call UT and ask in advance.

Thanks for replying iwillsucceed17! I thought I was the only one going to UT Tyler, but finally I found someone. I’m still confused on the option. I wanted to apply for the College of Natural Science but knowing that it wasn’t an option ruined my day. :(( Are you going to apply directly to CNS or go in to Undergrad studies then apply?

I’m going to apply directly to CNS! The people at UT told me that if I don’t get into CNS when I apply they will still offer me the choice to go into UGS or Liberal Arts!

internal transfers are hell of alot easier ; then directly applying

If external transfer did not work, we can always apply for an internal transfer after getting into UGS or college of liberal arts. Right?

See I can’t afford that risk because I might not get into cns then that’s basically 2 years wasted so I will just transfer from university of florida or Texas a&m

Capped to UT at El Paso, Pan American, and Brownsville. Which one could be better ? Any advice ?
