for those who were confused a few pages ago…

Yes…the school started calling people on April 28th. I got a phone call that day too. I was surprised since the school usually calls later.

Also, they DO call for w8list. Please check bak to previous year’s post. They use phone to inform w8list ppl instead of e-mail. I didn’t get any e-mail about the w8list thing (don’t noe about others…but that’s my case) but the application status has changed.

The person called told me that I do not have to make any decision via the phone. I can make my decision after I got the package.

And I think it really has something to do with the economy…My friend who applied for financial aid hasnt’ got any phone call. (Or maybe the school just think i am better ;D jkjk)

I am also wondering about the major thing…It says that most people choose majors after second year on the school website. But I still wanna comfirm it.

Do you guys know if they are still going to call people off the waitlist or were they only doing this from April 28th to today? I really like Wash U better than the other schools I got into, so I’m just crossing my fingers that I get off the waitlist.

If you read the thread, you will notice that this is only the first round of WL calls. There will be at least 2 or 3 more rounds which will begin as replies are received from the original calls.

I got into Ollin off the waitlist the other day. I only wish they could have told me earlier to give me more chance to think. I emailed the admissions office and they said I have one week to decide from when I receive my official acceptance off the waitlist letter.

I literally got the phone call that I got off the wait list as I was about to submit my deposit to another school (my state school)!! I don’t know if this was addressed already, but I talked to the admissions office and they let me have an extra week to decide…rather than just 24 hours! Now I really don’t know what to do! I sent in my deposit to my state school but not I need to decide if Wash U would be better or not! It’s so hard to tell because Wash U is much farther away and would cost significantly more than my state school!

I had a friend who was accepted at a state school, and waitlisted at WashU and Brown. He sent his deposit in for the state school, then received notification that he had gotten of the waitlist at WashU. So then paid the deposit (while forfeiting the $700 deposit at the state school) and was planning on going to WashU. He then got off the waitlist at Brown (his top choice) and withdrew from WashU to go to Brown. So basically, you can do anything you want (nothing is really legally binding except for ED) before the fall semester, that is, if you dont mind losing quite a bit of money.

One does not expect to meet the target on round 1 - that is why there are at least 2-3 rounds of WL calls. Funds are always limited, but at the same time can always be found when needed - even for the WL.

Ambivalence - exactly what “new” info did your counselor provide. If you read previous posts, you will find that there are always at least 2-3 rounds of WL calls and obviously the deeper you get into the WL - the more limited funds become. So I see nothing new in the info that your counselor provided.
