Just got into UBC! Very excited, but still a bit skeptical...

Could any students/persons familiar with the school help me by answering a few questions and perhaps let me in on some insider information? I live in Europe and am a bit short on cash (which is why I applied to the school haha, well compared to the US) so visiting is not an option ~ a round trip costs $2000+.

Anyway, here we go: I applied to UBC on a last-minute whim, not because I don't think it's a good school (on the contrary! it's great!) but because it's such a LARGE school. The 20,000+ students definitely puts me off.

In general, how much of a drawback is the large student population? I'd be much more comfortable with less than 10,000. Do friendships last long or is more of a come&go as the years pass?

How reputable are the urban studies, geography, and economics departments?

How are grad school admissions? I'm thinking about going to grad school to get a Masters in Urban Planning.

Are professors approachable?

Thanks for any help! I really appreciate it :)

its great because you get to make more friends.
the campus amosphere is good, but could be better because most local kids commute.
ive heard professors are as approachable as any other university.

-its just a really goood school over all, go for it!

(i live in vancouver)
