I am writing to let you know of our decision on your application for admission to Cornell University for the fall semester, 2005. I regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to Cornell.

Let me assure you that we gave your application a very careful review before making this difficult decision. Certainly your academic record, personal information, and supporting materials indicate that you have much to contribute to a college community. However, as the number of well qualified and highly recommended applicants to the unversity has continued to increase, we have had to deny admission to many candidates who could no doubt take full advantage of a Cornell education.

I am sorry to have to share this disappointing news with you. Please understand that the selection committees work hard to make the best admissions decisions possible given the nature of our increasingly large and competitive applicant pool.

I wish you the very best wherever you spend your college years.

Well... It just goes to show that I suck to them. Haha. They decided that I wasn't good enough for them so they informed me as early as possible, I guess. You know, not to prolong the agony. Anyway, good luck to all those who are eagerly awaiting for 31/3. At least you people get to wait till then. I didn't.

Ynos, for every worthy candidate who is granted admission into a school of Cornell's selectivity, 1, 2 or even 3 equally worthy and capable candidates are denied admission. I hope you do not take it personally. No matter where you go to college, your identity and future success will rest squarely in your shoulders...and I have a feeling your future is very bright. So chin up and forge ahead.

ynos>>sorry to hear about your rejection. But still gotta be proud of yourself for trying. You'll end up in some other wonderful place and thrive there!!!

Now I gotta be ready for my thin envelope :)

And why would someone go to the trouble of TYPING and making up a rejection letter.

I'm sorry about your rejection, guys. It is really tough. I don't want to go religious on you, but I think a rejection is God's way of saying "You wouldn't have had a good time here" or maybe he has a plan for you somewhere else.

"umm..why would someone lie about being rejeted?"
Why would cornell break their own rules to send out rejections .... i could understand if they sent acceptances early to get a better shot at enrolling ... but to send rejects out earlier just doesnt make any sense...
