I wonder why they decided not to send the decisions by mail this year, but I just got my acceptance letter by email 15 minutes ago. Anyone else hear back?

what is MMSS?

Yes, I just heard back to. I was about to call and ask them when they’d email decisions and then I saw the email in my inbox. I was also lucky enough to be admitted. Are you attending?

@olleger: this is super-Googlable:

[MMSS, Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences, Northwestern University](http://www.mmss.northwestern.edu/)

^ lazyness strikes again.

Wow I dislike social studies with a passion… haha if I go to NU I will not be applying for this, but congrats to you two for getting in!

i got in too am i wrong in thinking that MMSS is similar to undergrad business school? is at least slightly business oriented?

^^^absolutely right. The group of selected students also all stay in the same dorm. It’s an amazing program.

haha i just got in too :D

wait SAME DORM?? which dorm?? ahhh

no not same dorm…and it’s a math-intensive program…social sciences mainly implies economics…not social studies as in history…

How did you guys apply for this anyway? Was there a place on the application for this?

^looks like you overlooked a great program. big misake! call the director if you are interested; they may be able to squeeze you in. sophomore admission is much more competitive.

we still get to choose which dorm to stay in right? where will most of our classes be?

Do they only accept 20 people, or do they accept more while expecting about 20 to attend? It’s kind of cool that 3 of them in the whole nation are right here on CC lol.

haha hmm I never thought of that! that’s really cool! around what % of the people are accepted? it seems more self-selective than anything

arzachel, i read that they were gonna expand it. it’s probably more like 30/30.

MMSS alum from the mid 80’s here! Boy, the program has changed. We didn’t all stay in the same dorm, at all. Also, there was more of a focus on social sciences as a whole – most of us took our dual major in econ, but many took it in poli sci and some in anthropology, psychology or sociology. It’s a little sad how it’s now so undergrad-business-y. Take a look at the senior thesis papers on the website and you’ll see how the focus has changed and become more pre-professional.

Congrats on your achievement!
