***CHANCES FOR
- Rhode Island School of Design
- Williams College
-Wesleyan University
- Colgate University
- Brown University
- Dartmouth College
- Cornell University (school of archiecture/art and planning)
- Bowdoin Collge

SORRY ITS SUCH A LONG READ

So please chance me? I realize that I'm asian, andmy academics aren't that great , but I'm hoping that my extracurricular and involvement in art balances that out? And in terms of my grades, ive improved it and im continuing to improve it throughout senior year, so would they see my upward trend? I'm not a great standardized test taker - yea, i know. it's BS, but true. notice the huge difference between the standardized US History SAT II opposed to the AP US History exams - i know, weak excuse. im not writing that, but its true and I'm working really really hard to enahnce my test-taking abilities

chance me please?

If you submit your SAT scores, all of them will be sent, including those two SAT II's you don't want colleges to see.

i know theyre all sent and colleges will SEE all of them, but im hoping colleges will CONSIDER only the top two highest

and im hoping they realize the differenence between my getting a 640 on USH SAT II and getting a 5 onthe USH AP

bump 10char

I think you have a great chance as you show an upward trend in your grades, and show a strong interest (and talent) in art. Obviously Brown and Darthmouth would be reaches (as they are for anyone), but I think you have a fantastic chance at Colgate and Bowdoin.

I also had no clue there was such thing as "National Portfolio Day" :P You just taught me something new :)

I can't find the "reeking" part....

its pretty bad compared to many other asians

esp. at my school

(For US. History, i got 640 and Math IIC 630, but I'm not submitting these to colleges)

If you submit an official score report, they'll see those scores anyway, FYI. Also, the Cornell School of Architecture requires the Math 1 or 2 and will look at that score specifically.

Would someone tell me why these scores are horrible? I'd kill for anything above a 2100...

wanders off

If you are an Asian male, you must have very high test scores, usually 700+ but better 750+, to be competitive.

Gaffe is right, but the OP is not applying to HYMPS, but rather colleges a half step down. For the schools he is looking at, I think a 2170, and a 1440, are within range. They certainly do not "reek to high heavens." Even for a HYP applicant, they wouldn't "reek to high heavens", they would just be somewhat low. I think you have a great chance at many of the schools you are applying to. You have strong and focused passions/ECs which is very important.

don't think you need excelling SAT scores for risd..

You'd be perfect for RISD-Brown joint program!

I think that you have great credentials and aren't giving yourself enough credit.

I also think that if you're interested in majoring in art or something related, you need to apply to a few more art schools like RISD.

Good luck!

thanks muffy

and btw, im applying to for cornell's FINE ARTS program of AAP, not architecture

and i do realize that both USH and Math IIC scores are sent, but im hoping theyll CONSIDER only the chem and bio, and note the difference of scores between my SAT II USH and AP USH exams

green: though i love art, i also want to leave more options open for me to explore in various subjects.

thats why i really want to get into the Brown-RISD Dual degree program

Go for art! I have a friend who's smart and artsy (I feel so untalented around people like you), and she's finally figured out that she can be both (instead of just Asian and boring and artistically inept, like me). I think you have a pretty good shot at your schools...if anything were to kill you, it'd be the frosh/soph courses/grades, IMHO, not the wonderfully fragrant SAT scores (or at least, slightly perfumed).

You'll do great (if I had anything to do with it)! Good luck with everything!

Although, a little downer: a 5 in APUS means close to nothing at my school; it's about a 600-650 on the SAT II (mainly because APUS is general, conceptual, b/s stuff while SAT II actually requires specific knowledge...drats...it got me, too).

Final thing: from my (very extensive, obviously) EA experiences, it seems like the essay is what gets people. So, moral of the story: write awesome essays!

our school doesn't offer AP USH course...we just have 3 semesters of required united states history
