I applied to a college as a transfer student a few weeks ago and got this email:

[We have completed our initial review of your application materials and determined that you are a competitive candidate for the Fall 2010 semester. However, according to our records you have not completed all of the pre-requisite course requirements for your selected major of Pre-Engineering. If admitted, you will be assigned an advisor in University College with a major of UC Transition. Your advisor will work closely with you to prepare for the major of your choice and assist you with declaring a major when you have met all pre-requisite degree requirements.

A final decision letter will be mailed to your permanent mailing address within the next week to 10 days. If you have any questions please feel free to contact our office.]

Do you think im accepted?

Whoa! Very suggestive, but unclear. Call and ask.

There’s no way to tell if you’ve been accepted because it clearly says they haven’t made their final decision yet. I think they sent you that message so that if you decided to accept their offer, you wouldn’t be disappointed to learn that they’re going to give you some catching up to do. It feels like they’re giving you a fair warning. Seems like a good sign to me, but don’t get too excited until you know for sure. :)

Thanks for your guys comments.

When they state “A final decision letter will be mailed to your permanent mailing address within the next week to 10 days.” To me this means they are about to mail it out and want to be on the safe side. Especially when transfer students were told they would be notified around April 1st. Also I dont think they would tell me all that just to deny me. =P

bump, anything know anything about these kinds of emails?
