Just graduated from a 4-year university and thinking about going back for Associates?

Hi everyone,

I just graduated from a 4-year university with a double major; however, these two majors are in non-technical fields. I already have a job lined up and everything, but I was thinking about going back to maybe a community college to work on getting an Associate's degree in something like Accounting to make me more competitive. I would most likely do part-time student.

Is this a wise move?
Additionally, what if I chose to just take Accounting classes and not get the Associate's degree?

I would do grad school, but I am still not sure exactly what I would want to pursue at this time. I plan to work first and then perhaps down the road do a Master's.

Thanks for any advice!

If you already have a job, why would you want to go back for your associate’s? Do you want to go into accounting? Unless there’s little room for advancement unless you get another degree (and I doubt an associate’s would be weighted more than a bachelor’s), there’s no reason to get another degree.

Are you thinking of a career change? I would try to work a bit first, while you figure out what you really want to do. Only get another degree if you know specifically what degree you want to get and how it will further your career or put you in a place where you want to be.

I would go for a masters next, not an associates.
