just how hard is A&M?

hmmm i was wondering about how hard is A&M?
i know the saying that if u study enough u will get good grades or wateever...
but seriously are the classes very difficult or are they really easy?

I already accepted A&M and im going into general studies however i was thinking of doing 1 year and maybe transfering to a better university that has a better business program, for example umich. to transfer, usually, one must have pretty decent GPA perferably above 3.5 maybe? or that might be to high...

anyway yeah, i know that extra effort in studying will help but knowing the difficulty level will help me prepare for the road ahead

Dynasty, if you are a good enough student to make it in to UMich, you should be good enough to succeed at A&M. I’d say if your unweighted high school gpa above 3.25 or so, you’ll probably do fine at A&M. That’s kind of arbitrary, but I’m just trying to give you an idea.

I would suggest you join pickaprof . I think it’s $5 a semester. You can find it online. You choose the school, then you can choose a course…say English 104…and it will show the % of students who made A, B, C, etc. in that class. The grades are reported to pickaprof by the university; it’s not just kids who bother to fill all that in. It breaks it down by professor too, so you can see which ones are harder and which are easier. In the english example, though, most of the classes are listed as being taught by “staff”, so you can’t tell ahead of time who the instructor will be.

We did figure out a trick that will sometimes work for that, though. When it gets closer to the start of the semester, you can go to the MSC bookstore website to the textbook section. You can search for what the required books are for English 104. It might say “Section 202 Professor J. Smith”. So then you know who the prof is and you can go back to pickaprof and do a search by his name. It will likely have his grading statistics for his upper level classes there, and that will give you at least some idea of what kind of a grader he is. If he looks like a total disaster, you can drop the class and try to get in a different prof’s class.

Also…this is important…don’t rule out a prof just because he only gives 15% A’s. Look at the student reviews, too. This guy may be fascinating and you’ll learn a lot from him. That’s worth something, too.

It depends on which classes you take, and which profs. I’m an Engr. major at A&M and I can tell you that i study my tail off for B’s and C’s (as where I did nothing in HS to get A’s in AP classes).

thanks man! yeah someone recommended me to use the prof watever website last year when i was a junior.. i forgot about it =P

anyway yeah right now im waitlisted for UMICH and im CAPED for UT.
I decided to go to A&M because I feel like it would be more of a educational benefit if i studied maybe at A&M for a year and then transfer into maybe UT business, NYU, or umich and ect.

wow I didn’t know that A&M was that hard.

^
people, holy crap use pickaprof.
