just how low do you have to slip to get admission rescinded?

I'm just wondering, because I already have a confirmed B for this quarter that ends this week (1 point shy!), my first one for the year, and I'm worried the pattern might continue (e.g. a few points shy) with other one or two other subjects.

if a few Bs creep in, then don’t worry.

if you’re starting to slip into the C and lower range consistently, then be worried.

you have no reason to worry at all…relaaaaaaaaaax! Even a C here and there will not hurt you, a D? Maybe that would be reason for concern.
Remember they accepted you based on what you have done for the last 4 years and hate to rescind admission acceptances; they are not going to take it away for a B or a C in the last two months of your four month journey. It rarely happens and happens more for behavioral reasons that academic ones.

You link wasn’t working, but I found this one. According to this rescinding acceptance is alive and well.

Dean J has commented, I believe on multiple occasions, that UVa rescinds a “handful” (my word not hers) of decisions every year. It’s most unpleasant for everyone involved. You don’t want to go there.

Thanks for saying the link didn’t work vistany. It’s an article I have saved, so I’m going to try again. If it doesn’t work this time, I’m not what the problem is. It’s an article in the Washington Post by Jay Mathews, dated 2/4/08. I also read your article, vistany, and it’s very informative. It looks like they’re talking about really tanking your classes, as in D’s and F’s. I really can’t imagine that the one or two B’s the op is talking about would cause an acceptance to be rescinded. It’s always a good reminder to seniors to enjoy their last year of school, but just not too much.

ctmom is right. From what I have seen, (not just uva transfers) schools generally send those for acts of misconduct - An honor code violation, for example. Don’t worry at all if you get a ‘B’ when your regular grades were 'A’s. Good luck!

I’m sure that most of the rescinded admissions mentioned above were due to getting arrested, breaking an honor code violation, or something worse. Your grades would have to plummet to about a C average or lower to be in jeopardy! of getting your admission rescinded, IMO.

better yet, don’t forage into that territory. Just keep your grades up and you won’t have to worry.

you know in the admission letters UVa sent they asked our counselors to send official transcripts and grades etc… well, im an international american doing British external exams and results come out on the 14th of August. The letter said ’ failing to send your final grades may result in your admission being rescinded…should i e-mail them or just give it to them on the 14th??

and do they look at overall grades or grades per unit??!
cause i got a C in a unit first term but an overall A… :s

I am sure there where will be plenty of people slipping a bit in grades. Just don’t get a bunch of C’s and D’s and try not to commit any double homicides and you should be good.

First term? If you’re already admitted, I would think they’ve already accepted your first term grade. :p

:)
i knew there was something wrong with the question… lol …results come out end of march…so i didn’t send them my grade but they saw my predicted grade… cause im international they get sent to Britain to get marked..crap system i know!
