Alright so I just raised my SAT from a 1680 to a 1870!! Yippee!!

So right now now my stats are:

wGPA: 3.95

SAT I: 1870

SAT II: 520 on us history
490 on english
I know I did bad on these but honestly it was the best I could do, specific information just does not stay long with me :-/

Community Service: About 100 hours of working with my local down syndrome organization, and I know the president of it personally.

Activities: Played soccer for 10 years, than started working out for 2 years and still going, I was vice president of the entrepreneurs club last year, rank 95/545 in my senior class, and I have been reffing soccer for 4 years.

Soo yea, thats pretty much it...what do you think my chances are??

your GPA is right on track but those SAT II’s, they just suck. You have a good shot at getting in, but if you don’t, it is because of your SAT II’s.

retake those SAT II’s!!! I honestly think that with that stellar gpa and passable SAT you’ll be fine though… but here’s the comparison… i’m a freshman at UCSB
I only had a 3.8 UC gpa (3.6 at my school) but I had a 2090+ 730+670= 3490
In the test department you only have… 1870+490+520= 2880… now I know that you have a better gpa than I did but that’s a BIG difference. Like I said you’re probably in, but for constructive criticism I say you FIND a way to bring those SAT II’s up!

Another quick point… usually a 3.95 would be well in the top 10% of a class. If I was an admissions officer and I saw your gpa, your class rank, … then unfortunately those test scores I might think that your school has grade inflation and that your 3.95 isn’t worthy… I do think your Community Service will make a big differene though, but as I’ve mentioned twice you must get those SAT II’s up!

I (and this is just my opinion) dont think the SAT II’s matter all that much with the UC’s other then Cal, and UCLA. The SAT/ACT is what they’re really looking at. In fact, I think they’re getting rid of the SAT II requirement in 2012.

as far as UC’s go… each subject test is worth exactly the same as one subject on the SAT. they take your highest SAT I (or ACT equivalent) plus they add the points earned for the SAT II’s (similar to what I did above)
