can someone evaluate my chances at umcp? i'm an in-state applicant and applied regular decision.

sat: cr530, m650, w610 --> 1180/1790
act: 28
gpa: 3.5w (87.19 average) --> i know it's low, however, i randomly decided to start trying in my senior year and i sent my midyear grades to them which had an average of 91 (like a 3.9)
courses: i've taken 9 or 10 honors/ap classes throughout high school
ecs: volunteer work at three different places, played on the soccer team freshman year, i've held two jobs

i realize my gpa and sat are pretty low for this school, but i'm hoping they'll overlook that with my act being in their range, my midyear grades, and because i believe my essay was pretty well written and might make them see me as unique.

unweighted is probably 3.3 (84 average). i'm taking physics, ap psychology, honors calculus, am govt, regular english iv. i go to a private school if that means anything. they also said that they recieved the midyear grades, so i'm assuming they'll take a look at it if they have it. i have good recommendations, too.

The people in-state I know with lots of APs and around 3.3 got admitted for Spring. ****ing crazy, I couldn't believe it. But then I know some people with sub 3s who got in. I dunno. Nobody on here can really "say" your chances except that you're below avg. so that doesn't bode well. But there are a lot of other factors to a decision.

groovin - I agree. One of my friends had a 3.4 with decent SATs and EC's and was either denied or deffered (I just knew she didn't get in).

baltimore - I think that you may be on the line. It seems though that your midyear will help out. In-state will definitely help. I wish you the best of luck! :)

i really hope you would have applied early. i dont know how to say this but i heard they fill up almost all the class during priority. you might want to send them a letter telling them why you didn't do priority but that umd is your first choice. the good thing is your instate. good luck
