I was looking at my national merit portal, and it does not say that I received National Merit's $2,500 scholarship. Does this mean I was not chosen? Is it possible I will get it in May?

I just put down Berkeley as my first choice school today.

From what it looks like, UCB does not offer NM money. Yes, it is possible to receive the money in May, but chances are very, very slim. From the other thread, it looks like if any of the 2500 choose to receive college or corporate scholarships instead (because the award amount is higher), NM will notify alternates at that time.

Oh no! How are recipients chosen? :’(

This means you did not get it in the first round. It is possible you could still get a corporate or one of the ‘special’ scholarships. I do not know if the notification dates for those are different or the same.

Scholars are given the option to decline this offer, and recipients won’t be nationally released until May 8, so it is possible to get one if you are on some kind of waiting list.

Corporate and Special scholarship winners have already been notified - those go out first in early March, followed by NMSC $2500 winners, and then college-sponsored winners to be notified some time in April.

Corporate scholarships have been awarded and nearly ALWAYS go to children of the those employed by those companies.

Special scholarships are usually given to those who didn’t make NMF. Those are also funded by corporations and are awarded to children of employees who have high stats who didn’t make NMF. My younger son didn’t make NMF, but he was awarded a NM Special scholarship because my H’s company was a sponsor.

Got letter for more information and recommendation from school for Corporate Sponsored Scholarship in February. Haven’t heard anything else. Does this mean S did not get scholarship?

Apparently some of the corporates have not yet been awarded. I would call NMSC - they can probably tell you which ones are still pending.
