Just looking for a better school...

I just finished my freshman year of college and my gpa is a 2.8; I am really miserable at my current school and I really want to transfer ASAP.

High school
3.3 uw/4.0 w
ACT: 33 single sitting, 34 superscored
Decent Extracurriculars and volunteer hours

College
If I pull a 4.0 from now until the end of fall semester, I will have a 3.4 (and upward trend).
I have been really involved in activities, i.e. crew, debate, editing lit review + school paper

Where should I begin looking? Money is definitely a concern (EFC of 0) and preferably a liberal arts school in a coastal state.

Your GPA is high enough (along with the upward trend), that you will have some good options. I don’t know what you are looking for, so can you offer a bit more info.? What is it specifically about the school where you are now that is wrong for you? Are you looking for a more liberal school, or mainstream environment? Possible program of study?

If EFC is 0, then most likely you will want to reduce travel costs. I’d suggest looking at schools that are closer to home. Are you located near either coast?

I have to disagree with the above. Your GPA is not high enough to get into a school that meets need. I’d pull up the GPA and apply for junior transfer.

I don’t understand; junior transfer? As in apply to transfer my junior year? What’s the point of that?

I’m not looking for a school that necessarily meets full need. Right now my top choice is Reed.

jr transfer means applying as a soph, entering as a jr.

ok; my gpa will be a 3.4 after fall semester soph year. Is that decent?

I know you are busy trying to figure out a way to transfer, but I would really love to hear why you are so unhappy at Lewis and Clark. What do you know now, that you didn’t know when you decided to attend, aside from the financial aid stuff?
BTW, best of luck to you.
