just making it clear, non-research related ECs in college is completely useless for grad school, right?

I'm thinking about joining the AICHE or the AIAA (American Institute of chemical engineers/aeronautics & astronautics), which are both oriented around engineering.

Also, There's a math club at my school. I'm a double major in math and a type of engineering. Math helps a lot for recruiting and grad school because it makes you a good problem solver.

Having those two possible ECs on my conscious, it's hard to think that grad schools don't give a sh- about non-research related extracurricular activities.

it’s not a bad question. I’m curious too

If you want to do the clubs, do them even if grads school don’t care.

I suppose if it were a big matter of “this club is my last possible way to get into grad school, and without it, I’ll never get in” (which wouldn’t really happen), then go into all the major-based clubs. It doesn’t matter though; go into whatever you find find. Grad schools may still like the idea of a well-rounded person. (Hopefully. I know nothing about their admissions.)

In short: if it’s fun, do it.
