AND I can’t get any of the classes I need spring quarter, out of this hellhole in JUNE

I know this thread is super old, but I though I’d comment anyways. I don’t currently attend UCR, but I may in the fall. Speaking for Riverside as a whole, it’s not all bad. I live in the city in between riverside and orange county and I am a frequent visitor to Riverside. The area around UCR is not the best, but it’s far from what I would call a high risk area. There are wealthy areas of riverside, as well as middle class. Then you have the low income areas, but it’s not dangerous. I think a lot of people confuse Riverside with the other next town over, Moreno Valley. That is the truly “dangerous area”. Also UCR is in the heart of downtown Riverside. That’s why there are so many homeless. The real downfall of UCR is that it’s in the middle of suburbia. All you have to do is drive 45-60 minutes and your in San Diego or Newport beach. So all in all I wouldn’t turn down UCR because of fear of a ghetto dangerous are. Now if you can’t get classes you want that’s a different story…
