Just Need Some Advice

Ok, so here is a little background of my schooling. I wasn't all that great in high school, didn't have a very huge GPA. I don't think I even took the SATs and if I did, I don't remember. Same with the ACTs. I was also homeschooled my junior and senior year of high school. I have been in and out of community college and finally decided to just take a break for a bit. I don't even have a full years worth of college.

I finally realized what I wanted to do in life and I'm more motivated then ever to get back into school. I have looked into three majors which consist of Journalism, Radio Broadcasting, and Film. I don't know if Radio Broadcasting is in the same realm as Journalism but if it is, then disregard Radio Broadcasting. Right now, I will be attending an out of state community college due to my husband being in the military.

I have looked into Cal State Fullerton and of course USC. My dream is to be able to transfer out of Community College and attend USC. Now here come a few of my questions..

How hard is it to get into USC when your ready to transfer out of CC?

What requirements do you need to have in order for you to even get accepted or looked upon at USC?

What other schools out in California or even in the US support the majors I'm looking into?

What should I do while being in a CC, to get recognized? Should I join a lot of clubs? Volunteer? Any advice would be GREAT!

Like I said, any advice would be fantastic!! I'm new to the board so if this thread doesn't fit here, just move it to it's section. Thanks in advance!!

Im not familiar with transfers as much as freshman applications. I think there is a thread dedicated for it, but here is my humble advice:

Take the ACT or SAT. Try to get above a 1950/31 respectively at the bare minimum.

Maintain good grades. Show that you care! Straight Cs is a definite no, straight Bs are an unlikely, and straight A’s show effort.

Show that you do something outside of your school. Join a few clubs, volunteer, beautify it–show that you care about what you do.

And one final note - USC’s Film program is one of the best in the country and really competitive - Im not aware of many others, but I believe NYU also has a decent Film program thats probably a tad easier.
