Just out of curiosity

I'm purely asking this out of curiosity, I know it's probably not true or maybe it is but I just want to know.

Is it true what people say about legacies helping you into the ivies? Like in the example of Penn does it really help to have family who went there?

Yes, of course.

It helps the most during the ED round.

Thanks! I was having a disussion with my friend about this today.

Also just wondering, does just 1 or 2 family members help or do you need like 10? And your grades should still be on par with the school right?

Having a parent or grandparent who went to Penn qualifies you as a legacy. Once you are a Penn legacy, you don’t get bonus points for additional family members that went there.

Being a legacy gives you a slight advantage (especially when applying ED), but approximately two thirds of Penn legacy candidates are still denied admission.

I’ve heard higher, but yeah, it definitely helps.
