Just out of curiosity...

Has anyone submitted any applications or reserved any audition dates? I'm just wondering how far behind I am...

i have applied to one school, and i'm auditioning at the school that i went to before, so i don't need to apply there, just reserve an audition date.

start your applications....it will make your life MUCH easier later on.

Sporti, keep us posted. I am sure I am not the only CCer would is following your path with interest! In other words, we're rooting for you! Also, how did Fiddler on the Roof go this summer? Inquiring minds want to know!

NMR --

thank you. i hate to bring this thread off topic, but i'll do it anyway since you asked :)

fiddler went....okay, i guess. the company was not anywhere near as professional as i was expecting, and the director took liberties with the script that i did not agree with, including changing who sang certain parts of songs, which is pretty illegal, but it's over now. he and i butted heads a little bit for reasons that i don't completely understand, but whatever!! the $900 check made it a LOT easier it swallow!!

i got a good mention in the paper from a critic that can sometimes be hard to please, so that was nice as well.

hopefully this will be "my year"...haha. the voice teacher i've been working with has really helped with out a lot -- he's incredible. i've been keeping up with my ballet classes and will start new dance classes at a local studio in the fall.

i'm working at the ben & jerry's factory...and still losing weight! hahahahaha. my boyfriend actually very very generously just bought me 2 more months' membership at the gym and 3 sessions with a personal trainer as an early birthday gift. i turn 18 on the 15th and am looking very much forward to that little highlight as life is getting a little routine here.

hope all is well with everyone else, and i wish everyone (or their s/d's the best of luck this coming audition season....may we ALL get in!!

Danimal,
I just applied to my first school today. Definetly get in any audition applications as early as possible to make sure slots don't fill up and with a lot of schools I've found that if you need to, you can just send the rest of the application in later. But I get the impression that today was the earliest possible day to apply for most schools and I know some schools like Tisch and CMU won't start taking audition registration until even later.
Hope that helps!

Oklahoma City Unversity has been accepting applications and audition date reservations for some months now.

Which schools can you get an audition date for before you send in your application? I thought they had to recieve your app first. At least that's what most of my colleges have said. That's why I haven't gotten any audition dates; the applications are taking me forever.

i know at emerson you can submit the part that you request your audition date before your app is done.

Check the rules for each school. I recall there were several schools that allowed you to sign up before the app goes in. Definitely take advantage of that and sign up!

For OCU, you register now and send in your transcripts before your audition date. They start their first round of auditions in November.

Mizmom, I seem to be following you around! One thing to remember about OCU is that they start giving out their financial awards as soon as auditions start, so the earlier the better, when its gone its gone. Fortunately they have a generous scholarship program both in academics and talent.

At FSU the application is not required to make an audition appointment, however we do require that the student have applied to the University before the actual audition date.

Hi swr...you can follow all you like! Although I think I should be following you since you have the experience! :)

We were also impressed with OCU and the fact that a student can be notified of scholarships and talent awards shortly after the audition. I had heard of a horror story from another mom about some East Coast school (Boston Conservatory I think) where it took them months to learn (after their D's acceptance) about any scholarships. She didn't end up going there.

OCU does indeed seem to have a generous academic scholarship program. I also liked IU's.

danimal - You should definitely check the policy at each of your schools, things could have changed since last year, and my memory could be fuzzy. The ones that I believe have separate application dates and audition requests (but there may be paperwork to submit when you request the audition) were Point Park, Baldwin-Wallace, Elon, OCU, Ithaca, Syracuse, CMU, NYU, and Webster. CMU audition can be requested, but they will have a specific early date they want the application (may have been 12/1). My son auditioned at Syracuse before submitting his application, but the application had a specific due date (I think 1/1). My son had auditions scheduled for NYU and Webster that we later canceled because he had some good offers before Christmas, and their applications were not due until after Christmas. I think NYU was due 1/15. NYU has specific dates later in fall for signing up for auditions, previously posted, probably on NYU thread. Most of the others strongly encouraged for your application to be in before you actually auditioned, but auditions could be scheduled with the required paperwork to request the audition, ahead of time (including Ithaca, OCU, Elon, BW, and PPU).

danimal

I believe Ericsmom is correct on the schools she mentioned. It's best to directly talk w/ someone in the department and admissions. Even though you might schedule the audition before your app is in, some schools require the paperwork be in their offices by that actual audition - Ithaca? Keep in mind there's no harm in applying early where you might hear of academic acceptance that much sooner, and possible aid, which might factor into your decision making process down the line, and whether or not your list of schools where you care to audition can change. Our house rule was that our son have his app into any school before his audition date. For two reasons really - to show us his sincerity in wanting to attend that school, and, financially we needed to be sure it was worth the trip and expense to audition. We knew he wouldn't hear from all the schools on academic acceptance for a while, but he did hear from 3 schools on that end by Christmas, with scholarship notes included. Best of Luck to you.
