wow i can’t believe this many were rejected… we should all start a club

So are these all email rejections? Anyone get letters today?

I guess all email since we got the news so fast…

hey…i’m international but I live in the US.
does that mean i should have gotten an email by now?

dont worry about rejections. I feel that we are all meant to do something amazing, and each rejection or obstacle is just to help us truly find our niche.
the worst pple in this world are those who got everything they ever wanted, remember that.

and it doesn’t matter where you to go undergrad. The smartest and most successful pple I know all went to random and obscure colleges I’ve never heard of…so take your brithday and enjoy it because you’re amazing.

@lampoona
Me too!!! I think we should get the regular mail.

REJECTED

[/ul]Other Factors: Admission officers had really bad stomach pain when they reviewed my file.

Why do you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted/offered guaranteed transfer:
My CR score is definitely too low due to my ethnicity. Before I submitted my application I knew that I would be rejected by many, many schools. Surprisingly, this admission season was way better than I thought! Got accepted to WUSTL, UChicago, and all of Canadian schools and some huge surprise!

General Comments/Congratulations/etc:
Congratulation to all students accepted! You guys really deserve acceptance for your conscientiousness. To those who are rejected, I say this over and over again – do not let this rejection define you as a person. There are millions rejected who move on to achieve fulfilling and often successful lives.
I have some advice for prospective students. Definitely spend some time preparing for interviews, if applicable. I am just naturally quite talkative and persuasive. (My UChicago interview lasted for 2 hours hehe.) Definitely do a lot of research on the schools you love and really ask yourself why do you want to attend these schools. After this admission process, I now do not advise students to apply under Early Decision (ED), which is a binding commitment. I applied for Cornell ED, and I got deferred. Now I think of it, I am really glad that I did not get accepted because now I know its atmosphere is not really what I am looking for when it comes to college experience (not as intellectual as I would like it to be). I however, would strongly advise students to apply under EA to a safety school, so you have a back-up plan.
Finally, do not undermine the power of stats. Stats (grades, SAT, APs) are really, really important. I think that my CR score (680) definitely prevented me from being accepted by some top-notch colleges.

This was posted on another board by another poster who picked it off of another thread … so, it’s going to become THE thing to remember.

My suggestion is to print this in huge font and put it on the bathroom mirror. Look at yourself as you read it again and again. (Have not yet printed it out, but I did copy and paste it in a word doc for when the time comes and it’s needed most).

That’s nice

FB lalaland: your SATs are apparently good enought.
And your acceptance to UChicago is a prove to your accomplishment!

I am waitlisted by Amherst, but rejected by UChicago…
Might because of 40k-FA

REJECTED. I just felt the urge to share with the CC community :)

i was rejected as well! hooray for all of us!! =)

Am i the only person who thought the rejection letter was poorly written? It was pretty rude I thought, Williams wrote a much nicer reject letter. Im upset that Im ranking who has nice rejection letters and who doesnt but I was just put off by the wording.

^ No Amherst’s is definitely the worst rejection I’ve received so far. I dunno what was worse, the rejection or the rejection letter.

You guys all sound great. FB Lalaland, wow, those are amazing stats. This is one killer year if you are the kind of student they can turn down!

Why was the letter so bad?

D rejected also.

I too wish to know why the rejection letter was so bad, but if I do, a little voice inside of me will reply with, “you’ll find out soon enough.” So I am not asking. :)

D (not and international applicant) had applied ED and was deferred, and we received 2 rejection letters (one for her and one for us) because she would have been third generation Amherst - her dad and grandfather are alums). D has already been accepted at 4 other schools - but Amherst was where she really wanted to be. Great student (over 4.0), many community service activities (over 200 hours volunteering at local hospital), member of local volunteer fire department and EMT trainee. President of Model UN, Co-President of SADD, active theatre participation and professional actress - member of AFTRA (TV and radio). There is more, but what’s the point?

I wish I could quote the letter but I immediately threw it out, it was worded really poorly. The opening sentence/paragraph was cutthroat and showed no remorse. Dont get me wrong, I hate being patronized and complimented by the school Im getting rejected by but a little sympathy would have gone a long way
