<p>just escaped blizzard this am after visiting my son 08 and flew home to slightly warmer florida</p>
<p>the green was green and mud all week then 15 minutes before the opening
of winter carnival it started flurries and wind...president wright with a great improvise said something like we knew if we built it..winter would come!!
the sculpture was a giant D with an olympic flame on top and calvin and hobbs sliding down the D.. sculpture leaders worked so hard.. with no snow the sculpture was torture to build..</p>
<p>other highlights my wife and i enjoyed the Winter Wingding which spotlighted
2 dartmouth singing groups and one visiting form Mcgill university,,hats off to
hosts anna and hannah for some very funny bits ..it was held in the beautiful
and huge spaulding auditorium at the hop and had a great turnout..</p>
<p>the polar bear swim had a huge turnout of participants!! 50 or more students disrobed into bathing suits on occum pond and dived it to icy cold
water!! the pond looked beautiful iced over with a crisp clear blue sky</p>
<p>ate three breakfasts at lous...mollies and murphys once and in white river
junction there is a restaurant called AJs where they serve you a brontosauraus rib for prime rib..dressed down type of place with great service</p>
<p>there were movies on campus, jazzconcerts, basketball and squash matches to watch and of course frat parties for the students</p>
<p>we took the bus up an saw the dartmouth skiway and watched some of the
competitions..the lodge there is so beautiful and hot chocolate never tasted so good!!</p>
<p>now the highlight ..princeton-dartmouth sold out standing room only
hockey game that the big green wins in sudden death overtime!!
the students and fans were rocking!!..(and yes we did get a penalty called for throwing the tennis balls)</p>
