Just sent off my app...

I just sent off my app for EA last week and am anxious because I have not received any confirmation from Chapman that they have received it. Other schools that I have applied to such as USD and USF have both sent me confirmations upon receiving my app via email. Is there a way to confirm that Chapman has received my app?

Also, if I have applied for a major within the Dodge College (PR/Advet), is it possible to be accepted to Chapman but not Dodge, or is it black and white i.e. rejected from both Chapman and Dodge all together

Thanks!

One more thing, how competitive is the PR/Advert major within Dodge? I get the feeling alot of people apply for it....

Be patient. I think it was a few weeks before my son received a confirmation from them. Then he got a letter with a password/username so he could check the status of his application.

Make sure you keep checking that, as his transcript wasn't processed correctly, and they went back and found it and matched it to his file.

I got a confirmaton letter a few days ago and it said that they would be sending one with a p-word and UN so hopefully that will arrive shortly

so.....83 views and no one has any insight on dodge college PR/advert??
pleaseee =)

Anth,

There was a thread a while back which talked about PR/Advertising. My son attends, but is in a different major. Do some searching - there were stats here on CC about the admissions rate for those majors. I think in the last 6 weeks or so.

Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University

That website lists admission rates. For PR/Ad, I believe it's 1 in 7. It also breaks down roughly how many are accepted.

I believe you can get into Chapman and not Dodge. This might be helped if you list a second choice major outside the film school.

Furthermore, I remember talking recently to someone who mentioned that PR/Ad usually start off as Communications majors within the school, or something to that effect. This might just be for transfers or something. You might want to check with Admissions, but that's possibly a route you could go--applying for Comm as a second choice.

yea, I actually noticed that on my origional application I selected a second major within Dodge because I misunderstood the instructions (I thought it was mandatory to choose another major within Dodge) so I called and asked them to ignore that selection so that way if I am tunred down from Dodge I may still be accepted for regular undergrad admissions

Remember that they really frown on "back door" admissions to Dodge College and try to prevent that. So if you choose a 2nd choice major that's not in Dodge College, make sure you will be happy with that major if are unable to transfer in, since it's unlikely you'll be able to.

Yea I have become aware that a transfer into Dodge is unlikely however I just wanted to make sure that I would still have an opportunity to attend CU even if I did not get into the Dodge college

aanth007, my D is in the same situation as you. We toured Dodge last week and were told by the tour guide that very few kids are offered their second choice major if they're rejected by Dodge. This is different from what we were told by an admissions counselor...her comment was that they are wary of kids coming into Chapman with the goal of transferring into Dodge so if that isn't your intent you need to be really clear that your second choice major outside of Dodge is something you really want.

well I applied for the PR/Advert major within Dodge and listed my SC major as communications which is outside of Dodge and I believe they are both closely related so hopefully that should be ok

Good luck, anth!

is the admissions process the same if you want to MINOR in advertisment at dodge? and can you double major with a minor at CU? i already plan on staying at CU for 3 years (i'm a transfer)

I wasnt aware that you can minor in advertising...
Thanks LGM! It is only a matter of time until I hear...I am getting really anxious, especially since I have not recieved a ID or PW for a webmaster account at CU or USD to check the status of my applications...

You will get a confirmation letter in a few weeks from CU - when my son got it, the info was in the lower right hand corner of the page and it gave you a user name and password.

You go onto Chapman.edu, then web advisor and you can check the status of your transcripts, recommendations and all that stuff.

Be patient. It could be two months before you hear.

I sent in my app on November 2nd because I had a portfolio interview with the Art department (I am applying for a Graphic Design major) on Discover Chapman Day on Nov. 8th. I am so nervous and anxious.

I check web advisor two times a day, its horrible. I cant wait for it to change from "Decision pending"!!!
