Just some questions...about the UC's

Hey Guise,

I was wondering my chances for the UC's. I had just missed our schools ELC spot by one person. Small class, only 3/90ish were accepted.

UC Berkeley (Cause me madre wants me to go there, it's close to home)
UCSD (#1 Choice)
UCLA (Rub it into my cousin)
UCSB (#2 Choice)
UCSC (Hopefully safety)
UCI/UCD (Close reaches)
USC, cause it's awesome

Graduation: 2009
Race: Chinese American
School: Brand new, part of the founding class.
GPA: 3.80, school offers no AP classes. Taking college courses this semester.
SAT I: Math 650, Reading 590, Writing 550 Planning to retake for at least a 1900 +
SAT II: U.S. History and Math 2. Plan to score pretty darn well on U.S. History, Math 2 probably like Math I.
ACT: Going to take, possibly a 29 (Practice tests)

EC: Past 4 summers worked at elementary school. Actually interned there junior year.
Swimming(Freshmen and sophomore year)
JSA(Junior and senior year) Current Chapter President
Debate Club(Freshmen/Sophomore year)
Nation Honor Society

Thanks

Oh and essay I'm not so confident on. I'm a good writer but I can't seem to get a topic to write about.

Oh yeah and yearbook + student government..

the only match is ucsc.

others are all reaches. try to get a 2000 on sat.

You should check out the most recent admission statistics for the schools you listed. And calculate your UC GPA.

UC Admissions Statistics

University of California - Admissions

Calculate your UC gpa
Also can we have your unweighted gpa.

harrypotter is too harsh in my opinion

Until further notice

UCSC is a safety
UCD/UCI are matchs
UCSB might be a low reach
UCSD, UCLA, UCB sound like reaches

USc depends on unweighted

your essay is just as important as SATs at some of these schools so try to find a topic.

mm thanks! My unwieghted gpa is 3.80, weighted it seems to be a 3.90.

Oh since my chances for the big time UC's seem dim, how about the other two UCM, UCR and maybe the Cal Polys.

Oh then i figure that you have a real good chance of getting into UCD/I/SB
And with a little work getting into UCSD

I'm sure the UC's will take into account that there are no AP classes available at your school. So the GPA's would be hard to compare... Your SAT scores are a bit low for Cal, UCLA, and SD.

However, just raise that score a bit and you are a match for SD. You are already a match for UCR/maybe UCI/ and UCSC/SB.

Great thanks for all the advice! I just received my UC-eligibility letter. It's like the weaker form of ELC but it also says I'm guaranteed into one of their campuses!
