Just submitted...how long to hear back?

Since it's rolling. How long to hear back? I applied to University of Pittsburgh which is also rolling and heard back within a month and a half.

Hard to say, the EA deadline was just a couple weeks ago and they have to get through those apps. The expected notification for those applicants is before the holidays. The website says mid-April for regular decision applicants. You can always e-mail or get on the on-line chat and see if you get any different information.

Will there be an interview?

No, michigan doesn’t do interviews.

Well that’s good to hear. I’ve been surfing the internet and found that some people heard from Michigan within a month and a half.

i wouldn’t count on hearing back until after the new year at the earliest.

Did the stuff you see come from last year or before then, anything from two years and before is kind of irrelevant now because EA isn’t rolling anymore. In my year, some people heard back within two weeks, quite a few of my friends hear back mid-November after their file was completed around late October/early November. But last year, I think it was more or less two waves, one of 12/16 and the other on the 23rd. Don’t expect to hear back for another month.

Oh. Okay. I hope I hear good news. :)

What are my chances of getting in?
OOS, 4.1 Weighted GPA, I don’t know my unweighted GPA but I don’t have any B’s, took about 14 Honors classes throughout high school but no AP’s, SAT: 590 CR, 630 M, 710 W, 10 essay, tons of extra curriculars and volunteer work, teacher recommendations are good but not superb. I think my supplement was good but not astounding. For the communities question, I wrote about my interest in Pottery and for the Unique qualities question, I found a professor that offered an outstanding opportunity that I would really like to participate in in the department of my intended major and wrote about why I would like to participate in it and how it would help pursue my interests.

im not sure of your chances, but if you submitted on November 16th, 2011, under RD, don’t expect to hear back for a while. You won’t qualify for EA so your app won’t even be looked at until after Christmas as they will be handling all the EA’s first. Then they won’t make any final decisions until they receive your first semester grades. I would expect you will hear back in Mid February.

Chronome, you will probably not hear back from Michigan until the March1-April 1 period.

As for your chances, it is hard to tell without knowing your unweighed GPA, but assuming you have all As, you definitely stand a chance, although no APs and a 1220 on the CR+M sections of the SAT will hurt you. I would say Michigan is a reach.

Oh…darn.

I hear that Michigan will most likely move to a single date to respond to all non-EA applicants. That date will most likely be between April 1 and April 10.
