just submitted my UNC app!

anyone else apply early? :) post stats!

me (oos):
2100 sat
4.0
psat - commended, national ap scholar
so-so ECs
somewhat risky essays on my opinion on cap punishment and a group project gone astray

think it's a bit of a reach for me unfort!

Depends if they only look at your SATs or they look in depth at your ECs

yeah, its not rlly my first choice anyway. for me LACs are much more appealing than state schools. but we’ll seee

I just submitted my early application a few minutes ago, but I have one question

I didn’t see the space for volunteer work so I put it in the activities section, do you guys think that this will count against me.

Submitted mine last night as well, luckily I’m on gap year in France, so I had a few extra hours with the time difference to get my essays finished

Figure we’ll be hearing back in mid January? If I remember correctly, they released the decisions early last year.

As for volunteer work, I put mine with the rest of my EC’s as well, I’m sure it’s fine. Good luck everyone!

submitted mine last week! i’m also oos.
so nervous! it’s my #1.
4.1 gpa. 31 act. lots of leadership/good extracurric.
wrote one essay on tutoring program i started, second on how i express my inner world.
lots of legacy (mom, grandad, aunt, uncle, aunt, uncle) AHHH!!!

january cannot come soon enough!

Submited mine on Sunday.
OOS from NY
3.85/4 gpa
Top 10%

Choose option #8 for long essay and used common app essay
Additional information essay was on my passion for food and how it has taught me about diversity.

I would say I have a so/so shot of getting in. This and Gtown are my 2 second choices after UVA ofc.

@UVAorBust

how long was your commonapp essay?

My common app essay I believe was 505 words or something of that length.

I’ve got a 2150 SAT and a 3.8 GPA. I’m just praying my GPA won’t kill me. I’ve taken 10 AP classes and honors everything else, so I know my course load is rigorous. I have good EC’s and am living in a foreign country on gap year. Do you think I have a shot? Reading college confidential makes me so paranoid…

D submitted Sunday
oos, 33ACT, 2190 SAT, 4.3 (w)GPA.
ECs are really good/lots of volunteer
Does anyone know if they take certain oos over others? (ie, east coast?)
We are midwest…
Is Jan 15 official date? And how early did they come out last year?

also, I’m in state.

I don’t think the acceptances came out early last year at all. In fact, i think they came out after the date we were told. UNC was switching over their computer system last year and that seemed to delay many things.

Well UNC never really had a fixed date. They said they would release decisions by the first week or second week or something. And their server (ConnectCarolina) couldn’t handle the load of people logging onto their servers to check results. Heck, while I was registering for my classes during orientation it couldn’t handle ~30 people logging on at once, and something crashed.

Don’t expect too much from UNC Admissions.

Essays - Wrote about best advice I have ever recieved = Micheal Jackson’s “Just beat it”

:o cute idea!

^ i think you are DEFINITELY getting in! even if you were OOS! a 3.8 is great considering the rigor of your courses. at my school 4.0 is pretty easy to come by.

good luck everyone! :)

Please don’t tell me you spelt “Michael Jackson” wrong. =/

@emily92–you sound like a great candidate for Chapel Hill. Not to worry! ;)

what do you guys think of me?
in state.
4.6 weighted gpa, top 6% of my class
28 act 1950 sat
took 11 of 14 ap courses offered
lots of good extracurriculars/leadership…concentrated in education (a huge passion of mine), including interning for a unc chapel hill professor. but also well rounded with other ec’s (no sports tho D:)
2 really good recommendations (prediction, i am pretty close with the teacher & counselor)
3 really good essays (in my opinion & other’s…sorry if it’s being conceited!)…

So what helps an OOS student get into UNC?

33 ACT, 3.8 UW GPA
over 500 hours committee service
leader of 5 clubs/organizations
singer in 3 groups
varsity-lettered athlete since freshman year
excellent summer activities

essays: i thought good! (wrote one about playing my ukulele hah)

also, semi-finalist for morehead-cain as of now!

UNC is my one of my top choices!
I’m an OOS female
we’ll see!!!
