Im applying to Andover my application ill be sending tommorow for my junior year

Do i have a chance?
Honestly.... please give your opinion even if its a blank NO but honest please

Oh and i spoke about this on my essay ... I mean the whole reason im going is because i have problems with my parents that werent even resolved through councling so thats the reason and i dont know if it help but im just putting everything out there so i can get an honest rational awnser.... thats why my application is late because it was only until about a month ago that my dad said your out of here.... i truly want to leave... do i have a chance to save whats left of my sanity??!!

I just got into Andover as an 11th grader (Upper). Apparently there were 22 spaces, and I think that with the insane yield Andover experienced this year, they probably didn’t even have to go to the waitlist to fill spaces. However, I’m sure there’s a chance, because if there wasn’t, they wouldn’t have let you apply this late, but you should know that Upper year at Andover is the hardest year to get into. In fact, the acceptance rate is around 10% - and that’s for people who apply on time. As I said, though, it has to be possible otherwise they wouldn’t let you apply.

Your stats do look okay but they would look fuller if you could present your SSAT score. I know people who came out of test day thinking they did really well and then ended with a score a lot lower than they had anticipated. SSAT is never key, but this late in the game, I wouldn’t leave anything to chance.

As for your essay, that subject may or may not have been a good one to write about. Which essay question did you write the essay for? I’m just not entirely sure how Andover would like to be told that the main reason a kid wanted to attend was to get away from his or her parents. It could work and be fine, but I’ll be interested to hear how you managed to write about what you did while still adhering to the prompt that you chose.

well tom as for the ssat part… trust me when I tell you i got 100 on the math i got the awnsers in my head without even reading the choices and then i worked it out and got the awnser

as for my essay i wrote about how its somethingyou know for sure but are no longer certain in life… my essay didnt emphezise on me going there because of that

it was on how i was sure my parents taught me all these rules and shaped me to be who i am for the better but now their new found strictness and dictatorial attitude in the past couple years has made me not so sure that their innecessary disclipline really helps me concentrateon whats important

just put it this way… with school then cross country then working on my manual (whcih is what i compete with in DECA) i was at school from 7AM to 8PM no lie for the who spring, and they would complain on how i was at school too much… seriously bro what parent does that

I think you have everything one needs to be accepted at Andover. Intriguing essay, nice SSAT score and great stats. The only thing holding you back could be that you’re applying so late and they need to go through their favorites on the wait-list first!

Like Tom said, they wouldn’t be letting you apply if there was no chance but honestly…I would look at some BS with rolling admissions just in case.
I wouldn’t say NO because you seem like an amazing student and fully qualified but I can’t say yes because there might not be more spots left.

I KNOW!!! im so stressed out and so nervous and AP exams are coming up and my parents got mad at me so ive been waiting on their little insignificant parent statement and i can send it

Thats the thing though i dont want to go to some ******** school that isnt much… i want to go to the best or at least the top best… thats why i applied to andover

Yea, I’m with you on that. I’m going to Andover next year! I’m just saying…there are other great schools out there. Apply to a few because you never know!

Also, could I ask if you are applying for FA?

I don’t think it works that way. You should decide with your parents right now. It’s true that maybe you will have a better shot if you don’t apply for FA this late in the game BUT let me also say that Andover is a ‘rich school’.
If they want you FA application won’t stop them from accepting you.
Again, I have to stress that you should get everything done as soon as possible!

i know i agree!!! im waiting on my parents again they stop me from reaching my goals i mean all they had to do is fill out two papers sign twice and sing me up for a test and pay my application… like how hard is that their lack of intrest if what im talking about!!!

Like others have said, you seem a good candidate for Andover – and in the regular admission round we could have been more positive. You have to understand that not matter how great you are, if there isn’t room in the class for you, Andover won’t accept you.

Two suggestions –

decide if you would be willing to repeat 10th grade at BS (it is common) and if so, indicate that on your application. It is usually easier to get admitted for 10th grade than for 11th grade.

Second, if you are determined to attend boarding school – apply to more than one. There are a number of excellent boarding schools out there, many who will consider late applications. Take a look at Northfield Mount Hermon, Peddie, Blair, etc. I am sure others will chime in with suggestions for schools that are accepting late applications.

If you are determined to only attend Andover this year, I think you will be disappointed, but I wish you the best of luck.

any other ones… my overall goal is Stanford so whats a school that has graduation stats like Andovers… yes I know its up to me wether i get in or not, but we all know it helps

as of right now im just looking at the list of schools that have rolling applications and looking at their stats hopefully one of them will match Andovers… but no one really matches the blue
