Just visited DVC and I was not impressed!

I just visited the campus of DVC and it was humid and hot, I also didn't see a single white person. I guess the school is really popular among international student. The things I like about it are it's transfer rates to UCB, the fact that it on the semester system and the nice apartments really close to campus. Why does the weather have to suck so much? What did others think? Does it have a good academic reputation?

what in the world is dvc....

sorry... Diablo Valley College, it is a community college that feeds alot of kids into UCBerkeley (my dream school).

I think you should just go. And i would DIE for humid, hot weather. I absolutely hate cold weather. And you'll be outa there in like two years right?

sometimes you've gotta dig through a lotta crap to find the needle...or something like that

just go there. it's CC and it doesn't count for real college life until you get to real collge.

You won't find too many white people at any ccc. In American culture, it's almost a tradition or norm to go off to a university after HS graduation.

Lol, I am white and will be a second year at de anza next year. But that cc has the nick name de "asia" for a reason. I must say though, the weather is better in san jose/cupertino than the concord area.

oxy, i am white too. were u born here?

But i judge a cc based on its professors, availability of classes, access to help for students rather than weather and race.

jess, please stop with the whole dvc and its high transfer rates bs. you're just getting excited on rumors....dvc is a great school, and its a large school (which is why so many kids end up transferring to berkeley) naturally, bc of its size, more kids will transfer everywhere vs a smaller cc. its common sense...

and its one of the 'whitest' community colleges in the bay area....and if berkeley is your dream school, then join the club of thousands and just work hard. going to dvc isn't going to guarantee you anything. if you're willing to work hard, you can go anywhere for cc. i don't mean to sound mean but you need to understand that going to dvc may not be worth it to you. berkeley is not going to sit there and say 'humm, she went to dvc, thats always a plus, LET HER IN!'

so if you can't stand the heat, stay out the kitchen lol and go to a school you feel more comfortable with = ) good luck with ur decision and relax about the whole berkeley dream school thing. i used to get worked up and too excited/confident about going to berkeley but at some point you have to accept you're dreams may become reality, but also may not, so look into back ups just in case

and by the way, its community college, why were you expecting to be impressed? haha

DVC is about 100x 'whiter' than the community college I went to, about 30 miles away. Not saying that's good or bad. Just saying.

"oxy, i am white too. were u born here?"

Born in Los Gatos raised all my life in San Jose.

What about yourself. I see that you made into UCLA, congrats. That is where I want to end up at.
