Hey all it's been fun but due to financial aid circumstances my parents will not allow me to attend Cornell. I've been an avid reader/ member of this message board for almost a year and I've really enjoyed the time I spent chatting with all of you. Cornell is still IMO the best school out there. I hope everyone has fun next year.

I've enjoyed reading your posts prncssnyansema and am sorry to hear I won't be seeing you at CALS. It is a shame you can't afford Cornell. If I recall correctly, you were one of the very few likelied at Yale. Is that where you are going?

Prncssnyansema, thanks for all your posts!! I think I may have said this once before, but you definitely are one of the smartest-sounding people on here. Best of luck wherever you attend & I'm sorry things didn't work out! :(

thanks for your support everyone. I'm starting to get used to the idea that I'm a blue devil now. But Cornell will always have a special place in my heart. (awwww lol) :)

Come back for law, medicine, grad, whatever---did you try to negotiate the finaid with Cornell? sometimes if you can show what another school has done....

Whoa whoa whoa! This is a (bittersweet) thread for prncssnyansema. Let's not let this degenerate into a lets-bash-other-schools thread.

Devil May Cry, I think you're wrong about Brown not being on par with Duke, etc. I may be really really odd, but I actually think all the top 30 or so schools are equal, academically. Meaning, Brown = Cornell = Duke = Stanford = MIT = Yale = Johns Hopkins = Notre Dame = Harvard = UC Berkeley = ... It's up to each individual student to rank those schools according to what kind of education he personally would get at each school. Anyway, no more ABC-is-better-than-XYZ and oh-well-obviously-you-didn't-get-into-XYZ stuff. If you must, start another thread.

Prncssnyansema, it really stinks that you're not going to Cornell. However, Duke will be all the awesome-er for having you!

US News places Duke as tied with those 3. However, do you really think that anyone in the "know" believes that. Like is UPenn better than MIT and Stanford, well accordinig to US News they believe that. A more accuarate assessment is the Peer Assesment Score which i believe holds 25 percent of the rank. As you can see, UPenn, Duke, Cornell, J Hopkins, U of Chicago all have 4.6, so they are rather equal in terms of academics. Stanford/MIT/Ptown/Yale/Harvard are at 4.9. Therefore, I think you are a lil misinformed if you believe that Duke is on par with those other schools. Don't get me wrong, DUKE IS FABULOUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ;) Also, from reading your posts, you seem to be infatuated with the WSJ Feeder list. That is a reallly flawed survey. I mean, look at the schools that they used (suposedly the top 5 business, med, and law schools were used). Well, tell me why Stanford was not used and why Dartmouth Business was used over Northwestern Kellog? Therefore, to sum up, picking a college is about finding a match for you, not what a ranking or survey shows. Have a nice day and GOOD LUCK!

You are a nice guy, Dog. However, you claim that one should look for colleges that fit him/her, then you perpetuate the idea that Duke/Upenn is not "on par" with Stanford or MIT simply because that is what you believe. Duke had more graduates to Yale law last year than ANY of the schools you just mentioned. Moreover, why would Upenn not be in Stanford's league. They have the greates business school ever a la Wharton, an excellent nanotechnology lab, and one of the most respected economics and engineering programs in the world. Rather, you should have said that Stanford is better than Duke in ,, and ___. There is no way to justify the finality of your statement simply because one cannot go wrong at ANY of the schools you just listed.

Well, about the Penn thing - it could be argued that Wharton is the reason why its ranked so high, so people put down the College and Engineering there

The US News Rankings will change in three months anyways lol

WSJ does tell you in the article accompanying the rankings. They say that including Stanford was explored and didn't significantly change the results.
