Right...so I just received a letter saying I'm a Distinguished Freshman Scholarship winner of MSU's Alumni Distinguished Scholarship competition...basically it means full tuition for me, which is great...but in the contract I have to sign to receive this scholarship it says...

"...In addition, this award may supersede any other MSU scholarship not based on need..."

ive won a few other merit based scholarships from msu...does that line mean that they can just cancel all my other awards...or what??

Yes, I think they will cancel the other awards. A lot of colleges only give you the highest scholarship amount you won. These colleges have maximum awards, and you can't get more than that. I know... It really sucks.

Congrats, gumba, that's excellent. Your Distinguished Freshman Award is the 2nd runner-up to the 15 full ADS awards which means it covers everything, for 4 years, accept room & board (as the top awards do) – still pretty darn good!... And people here are correct: by accepting it, you must renounce any other award for attending Michigan State, whether it's sponsored by the University or not. Either way, it's a great achievement on your part.
