just wondering how messed up i am

freshman year i started horrible
failed 3 classes(All IB)

sophmore year i made all Bs (i switched to AP)

junior year im still in all AP and im now making As

would schools like the university of houston, texas tech, and texas a&m still consider me?
My Sat scores should be about average. 1100-1300/1600 and 1500-1800/2400

i learned my lesson but will colleges see that

Generally for big schools where they get a lot of applicants, the first screening tool is the transcript, (that’s what was explained to us at BU, where they get 13,000 applicants for 4000 students). That would put a lot of applicants who needed to mature a bit out of the running.

You should reach out to the admissions offices and find out what their policy is.

If you finish strong as a junior and show an improving GPA, you have a decent chance at UH and Tech. (That’s assuming that you score above 1200 on the SAT). That would put you in the top 25% of admitted students at each school with respect to SAT scores. A&M is a bigger reach.

A&M is like UT in their “accept the top 10%” policy in line with Texas state law. Unless you can break into the top 10% at your school or obtain a remarkable test score to offset a moderate GPA, it will be a stretch for admission. Tech and UH are more lenient in their admissions policies, and a decent SAT like you mentioned, a decent GPA (3.0+ on a 4.0 scale, for example), should make you a pretty competitive applicant. Don’t stress out too much at this point, just do your best, try to show continued improvement, and take that SAT/ACT until that score is where you want/need it.

Why did you take IBs in freshman year? They are supposed to be junior/senior level classes that generally need honor classes as pre-reqs.

yep it really concerns me that your school allowed you to take IB classes in freshman year

How did you take IB classes freshman year?

yea i did… maybe 30-40 students are in the same situation as me… i would really like to get in the university of houston but my freshman year just scares me
