Just wondering...is this even possible?

Sorry, this is kinda a dumb question but is it possible to major in computer science (through CoE), minor in astronomy, and complete the pre-med track all in 4 years ? I have a lot of interests lols.

i’m sure it’s possible. double minoring. but since astronomy might be not very employable u might leave that out n study it on ur own rather than put extra burden on your course load

You don’t have to minor in astronomy just to take classes for it…

If that’s only an interest and not a possible career choice…I wouldn’t minor in it.

I’m sure you could do something with computer science + medicine though…maybe even add astronomy in there somewhere I guess…be creative?

you might have to do spring/summer, but it’s possible.

Very possible.

Thanks guys. Are there some jobs in the medical field that require heavy CS skills? My primary interest is in CS, but I was also thinking about pre-med.

And yes, Astronomy is just an interest, I heard the job prospect sucks. Isn’t there other benefits in minoring though? For example, if I were to dump the pre-med idea and just major in CS, wouldn’t it be better to minor in Astronomy instead of not minoring at all? Would grad schools like that I took a minor (even though my minor has nothing to do with my major)?

Yes.

A friend of mine got rejected from Med School, so with his degree, I think he works for a company which makes machines and stuff for hospitals…

Still trying to get into Med School though. Hes really smart.

I’d say there’s about a 99% chance that an Astronomy minor would be totally useless.

^ Like I said, it’s just a big interest. But won’t grad schools like that I’m pursuing another interest as well? Or would I be much, much better off getting a Math minor or something…

Grad school admissions aren’t like undergrad; they don’t care about your “interests” that don’t have to do with the major you’re applying for.
