Just wondering...thanks...

Hi all,

I have a relatively low GPA right now, 4.0 weighted, 3.4 unweighted, but have taken a ton of math classes at my local university. Right now I'm a junior at a small high school (under 100 people in my class) and am enrolled in Calc 2 and a Cryptology course at my local college. Last semester I took two upper division statistics classes. I work in the math department as well. Math is definitely my passion, but because of the difficulty of the classes I have taken and a tendency I have to spread myself too thin, my grades are not representative of what they should be. Of course, I hope to get my grades up at least a bit. In the meantime, though, do you think I have a shot at colleges like Yale, MIT, Berkely? I have high aspirations and plan to continue on the accelerated track I'm on.

I don't think the SATs will be a problem if the PSAT is any indication of what my scores will be. I have a few ECs which I am very involved in , all of which are leadership roles. These include my school's FIRST robotics team, Debate Club and ASB. I have over 350 hours of community service as well.

Because of my school's small size we do not AP or honors classes. I plan on taking the AP World History, English, Statistics and Calc BC tests this year. Test-taking is a strong point of mine and I am confident I will get 5's in Stats and Calc and at least 4's in English and History.

Going back to math, I plan to have taken a proof class, probability theory and a modern algebra course by the time I complete high school.

Thanks for your time!

Well, I don’t really see the point in taking the APs if you took the college courses of them.

OK, you aren’t disclosing enough information here. Why is the SAT not a big concern because of this unknown PSAT score? Is it something 220-230+ or something? If you’re not willing to disclose that, then no one on here can adequately chance you, since you have only a very low GPA, and some pretty decent ECs. If you average those together, you end up getting a somewhat below average applicant to Yale/MIT/Berkeley(OOS I’m guessing but, again, you aren’t giving nearly enough information) To chance you based on that, then no, all 3 schools are in your reach category.

3.4 is pretty low for all of those schools…

What is your class rank?

Your GPA is really low.

Unlikely/ REJECT at all the schools.
